“WHAT IS HERMENEUTICS?” (part two)
INTRO:
Hermeneutics is the “science” of Biblical Interpretation. Almost every “cult” that exist, happened because of not interpreting the Bible correctly. In other words they got confused about some scriptures.
2Ti 3:16 says [All scripture] is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Note the word “all”: This includes the Old Testament and the New Testament.
Understanding God’s word is the most important thing in our lives! God’s word is alive and it will live forever.
1Pe 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, [by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever].
The Key to understanding scripture is the “ILLUMINATION” of the Holy Spirit.
Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, [he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you].
THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL ALWAYS LEAD YOU TO JESUS.
God dispensed out His Judgement in different ways throughout time from creation till now and even informs us of future dispensation.
Dispense means: To deal or divide out in parts or portions; to distribute. (An example is a box of tissue, you get one sheet at a time)
The Apostle Paul uses the phrase:
Eph 3:2 [If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace] of God which is given me to you-ward:
Eph 3:3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,
Eph 3:4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of
Christ)
Paul understood the way God dispenses His word.
I.) The Dispensation of INNOCENCE: (no one knows exactly how long this period lasted)
Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Gen 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Gen 2:22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
This was the time of Innocence.
A.) This “dispensation” lasted from Creation until the Fall of Man.
Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Gen 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
Gen 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
Gen 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
B.) Mankind made a choice to believe Satan.
Gen 3:7 [And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked]; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
C.) The consequences :
There is always a price to pay for sin!
The Curses:
Gen 3:14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
Note:It appears that the serpent at one time may have had legs or at least could stand.
Gen 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
Note: It seems that childbirth was not going to be so painful for the woman at first until sin.
Gen 3:17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
Note: Mankind had to eat of his own labor after sin.
Gen 3:18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
Note: The Earth now brought forth thorns and thistles when it had none at creation after sin.
Gen 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
Note: Mankind did not sweat until sin entered in to the world. Nor heavy labor.(this also may tell us something about the “ideal” conditions that God created.)
Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, [to know good and evil]: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
Mankind is no longer innocent. (Wouldn’t it be nice to know just the good things of life and nothing evil).
II.) The dispensation of Conscience:
Conscience is that internal mechanism God gives to every human being so we can decide right from wrong, our own actions and affections, our moral sence. How to conduct ourselves.
A Bible reference:
Joh 8:9 And they which heard it, [being convicted by their own conscience], went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
A.) The time of this dispensation was from the Fall of Man until the Flood of Noah’s day.
(Approx: 1650 years.)
We must remember it had never rained:
Gen 2:6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.
Even Noah had never seen rain!
Gen 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
and
Gen 6:6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
and
Gen 6:13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, [behold, I will destroy them with the earth].
but
Gen 6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
God gave Noah some time.
Gen 6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: [yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years].
Peter wrote:
1Pe 3:19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
1Pe 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, [when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing], wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
B.) This began the fallen condition of man, outside the Garden of Eden.
Gen 3:23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
Gen 3:24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
SIN EVOLVED TO RULE MAN’S EVERY WAY.
Murder:
Gen 4:8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
Double murder:
Gen 4:23 And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt.
Rape and Adultery:
Gen 6:2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and [they took them wives of all which they chose].
C.) Mankind was guided by his own “CONSCIENCE” during this period.
1.) Cain refused the proper sacrifice:
Gen 4:3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.
Gen 4:4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
Gen 4:5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
2.) ONCE YOU REFUSE ONE THING IT GET’S EASIER TO REFUSE THE SECOND TIME AND ON AND ON.
SOCIETY WAS IN A DOWNWARD SPIRAL THAT ENDED IN THE FLOOD!
III.) The Dispensation of Government:
(Nations form)
A.) This lasted from the Flood to the Tower Of Babel.
(approx 425 years)
B.) Man was given the job of Governing the Earth.
Capitol punishment was established.
Gen 9:6 Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.
C.) The failure of Mankind:
If man cannot govern himself, HOW CAN HE GOVERN OTHERS.
We can still see this in our government offices every day. The ones we elect are corrupt themselves. It still does not work. When a congressman or senator do wrong, they get a slap on the wrist and they keep there position.
This was a seed bed of SIN. These people even tried to find their own way to Heaven. (Sounds like today.) They would just build this tower and walk right into Heaven.
The word Babel means confusion and disorder.
God confounded their language and mankind spread around the Earth.
Gen 11:1 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.
Gen 11:4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
Gen 11:7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.
Gen 11:8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.
DOES MANKIND EVER LEARN? NO!
IV.) The Dispensation of Promise:
(God begins His promises)
A.) This would be from Abraham to the Exodus of The children of Israel.
(Approx 430 years)
Gen 12:1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
Gen 12:2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
Gen 12:3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
Gen 12:4 So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.
B.) This started in Ur of the Chaldees:
Gen 11:28 And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, [in Ur of the Chaldees].
Gen 11:29 And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram’s wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
Gen 11:30 But Sarai was barren; she had no child.
Ur of the Chaldees is in what we know as present day Iraq.
Iraq is the second most noted area in the Bible besides Israel. These two Nations have been in the News more than any other places in the past several years. We are seeing the effects of this Promise from God today with war in Gaza and other places.
The Children of Israel are surrounded by Arabians. Where did they come from?
Gen 16:1 Now Sarai Abram’s wife bare him no children: and she had an handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar.
Gen 16:2 And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the LORD hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai.
Gen 16:3 And Sarai Abram’s wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife.
Gen 16:4 And he went in unto Hagar, and she conceived: and when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes.
thy bosom; and when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her eyes: the LORD judge between me and thee.
Gen 16:6 But Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy maid is in thy hand; do to her as it pleaseth thee. And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, she fled from her face.
Gen 16:7 And the angel of the LORD found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way to Shur.
Gen 16:8 And he said, Hagar, Sarai’s maid, whence camest thou? and whither wilt thou go? And she said, I flee from the face of my mistress Sarai.
Gen 16:9 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands.
Gen 16:10 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.
Gen 16:11 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.
Gen 16:12 And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.
We can see these Arabians are indeed wild men and they Hate Israel. It all began back when Abraham told Hagar she had to go because Sarah despised her.
C.) Abraham leaves “Idols” and BELIEVES GOD AND GOD’S PROMISES.
D.) Judgements then came by whether you BELIEVED GOD’s PROMISES.
V.) The Dispensation of the LAW:
A.) Began at Mtn. Sinai and went to Mtn. Calvary. (the cross)
Exo 2:1 And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi.
Exo 2:2 And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.
Exo 2:3 And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river’s brink.
Exo 2:4 And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.
Exo 2:5 And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river’s side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.
Exo 2:6 And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews’ children.
Exo 2:7 Then said his sister to Pharaoh’s daughter, Shall I go and call to thee a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee?
Exo 2:8 And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the child’s mother.
Exo 2:9 And Pharaoh’s daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages. And the woman took the child, and nursed it.
Exo 2:10 And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.
Exo 20:1 And God spake all these words, saying,
Exo 20:2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
Exo 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
(Approx: 1500 years later)
Joh 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
B.) ALL JUDGEMENTS WERE BASED ON THE LAW.
They were strict. If you broke “ONE” you were Guilty of them “ALL”. No second chances.
Jas 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
C.) Not 10 Commandments but 613 LAWS given to the Children of Israel.
Israel was held to the letter of the Law.
VI.) The Dispensation of GRACE:
A.) This started with the DEATH of CHRIST and will last until the RAPTURE of the CHURCH.
Under the law you could not go before God. You had to go to a Priest. He could only go before God once in a year inside the veil of the Tabernacle or the at the Temple.
BUT AT THE CROSS:
Mat 27:51 And, behold, [the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom]; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
There is no more a veil between us and Our God. So we can go boldly before thee THRONE OF GOD.
Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANYHOW.
Grace, Grace, God’s GRACE.
B.) Grace is the UNMERITED FAVOR OF GOD.
I didn’t earn it and I don’t deserve it!
God’s
Riches
At
Christ’s
Expense
C.) Judgement is based on REJECTING THE GRACE OF GOD.
Pro 28:26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.
This has nothing to do with sin or the Law.
VII.) The Dispensation of TRIBULATION:
(People did not want to acknowledge the blood of Jesus. During this time they will see a lot of blood)
A.) From the Rapture of the Church until the Beginning of the Millennial Kingdom.
We know this to be 7 years of tribulation according to the Bible.
B.) It becomes a Godless society.
(It will be led by the Antichrist)
2Th 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: [only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way].
2Th 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
2Th 2:9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
2Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
That [He that letteth] is the Holy Ghost and when the Church is raptured this Earth will not have the Christian influence on this Earth and sin will abound even more. Satan will have free will over the people.
C.) Judgement is based on the MARK OF THE BEAST!
Rev 13:15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
Rev 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
Rev 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Rev 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
VIII.) The Dispensation of the Millennial Kingdom:
This will be 1000 years.
Millennial means: Pertaining to the millenium, or to a thousand years.
Rev 20:1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
Rev 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
Rev 20:3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
A.) The world is restored to Adam’s Paradise.
Amo 9:13 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that soweth seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt.
Joe 3:18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim.
Isa 55:13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.
Isa 35:1 The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.
Isa 35:2 It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God.
Isa 35:6 Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.
Isa 41:18 I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.
Isa 41:19 I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together:
Isa 41:20 That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.
B.) Jesus Christ Our Lord will set upon the Throne of David.
Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Isa 9:7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
and
Luk 1:31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
Luk 1:32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
Luk 1:33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
C.) Judgement will proceed from the Throne of Jesus.
Dan 7:13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
Dan 7:14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
Dan 7:27 And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.
Oba 1:21 And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD’S.
Heb 1:8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
Rev 11:15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
