The Doctrine Of The Father

THE DOCTRINE OF THE FATHER

(Theology Proper) The Study of God the Father

Our Text:

Joh 5:26  For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;
Joh 5:27  And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

Does God the Father exist?

God says everyone on this earth should know of Him and there will be no excuse!

Rom 1:18  For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Rom 1:19  Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; [for God hath shewed it unto them].
Rom 1:20  [For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse]:
Rom 1:21  Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

If we had to write down everything we know about our Father who is in Heaven, not many of us could write very much. We should be ashamed.

Jesus Christ Himself mentions the Father more than 200 times.

Some things that Jesus tells us:

1.) The Father is Spirit:

Joh 4:24  God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

That word “is” was added to this verse. God is not limited, so God is Spirit. This explains why Our Father can be everywhere at one time. To say He is “a spirit” would be an attempt to place limits on Our Father. A body would localize where God is everywhere. He cannot be limited!

2.) The Father is omnipotent:

Mat 19:26  But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

3.) The Father is omniscient:

Mat 10:28  And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Mat 10:29  Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and [one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father].
Mat 10:30  [But the very hairs of your head are all numbered].
Mat 10:31  Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
Mat 10:32  Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 10:33  But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

4.) The Father is HOLY:

Joh 17:11  And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. [Holy Father], keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

5.) The Father is righteous:

Joh 17:25  [O righteous Father], the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.

Most of the world still does not know The Father.

6.) The Father is loving:

Joh 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Joh 3:17  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Joh 17:23  I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

7.) The Father is good:

Mat 6:26  Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Mat 6:28  And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
Mat 6:29  And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Mat 6:30  Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

Mat 19:17  And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

These are all words that Christ Jesus used to describe the “Father”.

I.) He is the Father of “all” life.

Joh 5:26  For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

Psa 36:9  For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.

Eph 4:17  This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
Eph 4:18  Having the understanding darkened, [being alienated from the life of God] through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

Psa 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

A.) Our Father provides the vegetation:

Psa 104:14  He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;

Psa 104:16  The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;

Mat 6:30  [Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field], which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

B.) Our Father tends and cares for nature:

Psa 104:14  He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;

Psa 104:16  The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;

Psa 104:18  The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats; and the rocks for the conies.

Psa 104:20  Thou makest darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth.
Psa 104:21  The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God.

Psa 104:27  These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season.

Mat 6:26  Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Psa 145:15  The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season.
Psa 145:16  Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.
Psa 145:17  The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.
Psa 145:18  The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.
Psa 145:19  He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.
Psa 145:20  The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy.

C.) The Father tends to our weather:

Psa 135:6  Whatsoever the LORD pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places.
Psa 135:7  He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth the wind out of his treasuries.

Psa 147:8  Who covereth the heaven with clouds, who prepareth rain for the earth, who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains.

Psa 147:16  He giveth snow like wool: he scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes.
Psa 147:17  He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before his cold?
Psa 147:18  He sendeth out his word, and melteth them: he causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.

D.) The Father tends and cares for our seasons:

Gen 8:22  While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

Since it is God that will destroy this Earth we live on, then we should know “until that time that He does” this promise of God will be the law of the land.

II.) He is the Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

During the earthly ministry of Christ, the Father was His favorite subject.

A.) The Father sent His Son:

Joh 20:21  Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: [as my Father hath sent me], even so send I you.

Joh 6:57  [As the living Father hath sent me], and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.

Joh 8:18  I am one that bear witness of myself, and [the Father that sent me] beareth witness of me.

Gal 4:4  But when the fulness of the time was come, [God sent forth his Son], made of a woman, made under the law,
Gal 4:5  To redeem them that were under the law, [that we might receive the adoption of sons].

1Jn 4:14  And we have seen and do testify [that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world]. (John 3:16)

B.) The Father commanded the angels to worship His Son:

Heb 1:6  And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.

Luk 2:13  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Luk 2:14  Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

C.) The Father sealed His Son:

Joh 6:27  Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: [for him hath God the Father sealed].

D.) The Father honors His Son:

Joh 8:54  Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: [it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God]:

It is every religion that should understand this.

E.) The Father bore witness to His Son:

Joh 8:18  I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.

F.) The Father loves His Son:

Joh 10:17  Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
Joh 10:18  No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

G.) The Father glorified His Son:

Joh 12:27  Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.
Joh 12:28  Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.

Joh 17:1  These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

Joh 17:5  And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

H.) The Father taught His Son:

Joh 8:28  Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; [but as my Father hath taught me], I speak these things.
Joh 8:29  And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.

I.) The Father anointed His Son:

Joh 3:34  For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.

Luk 4:18  The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because [he hath anointed me to preach the gospel] to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
Luk 4:19  [To preach the acceptable year of the Lord].

J.) The Father delighted in His Son:

Mat 3:17  And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Mat 17:5  While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

And there were other witnesses:

2Pe 1:17  For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
2Pe 1:18  And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.

K.) The Father listened to His Son:

Joh 11:40  Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
Joh 11:41  Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, [I thank thee that thou hast heard me].
Joh 11:42  [And I knew that thou hearest me always]: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

Joh 12:27  Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.
Joh 12:28  Father, glorify thy name. [Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again].

L.) The Father offered up His Son for our sin:

Joh 18:11  Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: [the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?]

Rom 8:32  He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

1Jn 4:9  In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
1Jn 4:10  Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

M.) The Father was satisfied in His Son:

Joh 8:28  Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
Joh 8:29  And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; [for I do always those things that please him].

N.) It is the Father that raised His Son:

Gal 1:1  Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and [God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)]

Eph 1:20  Which he wrought in Christ, [when he raised him from the dead], and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

This where we can apply the term “begotten” to His resurrection rather than at His birth.

O.) The Father exalts His Son:

Php 2:9  Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
Php 2:10  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
Php 2:11  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Eph 1:21  Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:

P.) The Father made His Son the head of the Church:

Eph 1:22  And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
Eph 1:23  Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

Q.) The Father commits all judgment unto His Son:

Joh 3:35  The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.
Joh 3:36  He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Joh 5:21  For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.
Joh 5:22  For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
Joh 5:23  That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
Joh 5:24  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
Joh 5:25  Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
Joh 5:26  For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;
Joh 5:27  And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

This drives the liberal crowd nuts.

III.) He is the Father of all believers.

While God is the creator of all men, HE IS THE “FATHER” ONLY OF BELIEVERS:

1Jn 3:1  Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

Who is the father of the unbeliever?

Joh 8:44  Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

What is a believer? It may be easier to describe the unbeliever.

1Jn 2:21  I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
1Jn 2:22  Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
1Jn 2:23  Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
1Jn 2:24  Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

1Jn 5:10  He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
1Jn 5:11  And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
1Jn 5:12  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
1Jn 5:13  These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

This also drives the Liberal crowd nuts.

A.) The Father predestined every believer to become His children:

1Pe 1:2  Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, [through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ]: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

Rom 8:29  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Act 13:48  And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and [as many as were ordained to eternal life believed].

B.) The Father elected the believer:

Eph 1:4  According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

2Th 2:13  But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation [through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth]:
2Th 2:14  Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1Pe 2:9  But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
1Pe 2:10  Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

C.) The Father has given all the believers to Christ Jesus:

Joh 6:37  All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
Joh 6:38  For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

Joh 6:44  No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Joh 6:45  [It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me].

Joh 10:29  My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
Joh 10:30  I and my Father are one.

Joh 13:3  Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;

D.) The Father conforms each believer to the image of Christ:

Rom 8:29  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Rom 8:30  Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

E.) The Father redeemed the believer:

Eph 1:7  In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Eph 1:8  Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
Eph 1:9  Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
Eph 1:10  That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

F.) The Father justifies the believer:

Rom 8:33  Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.

G.) The Father indwells the believer:

Joh 14:23  Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, [and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him].

H.) The Father seals the believer with the Holy Spirit:

Eph 1:13  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

Eph 4:30  And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

It is the Father that sent the Holy Spirit:

Joh 14:16  And I will pray the Father, and [he shall give you another Comforter], that he may abide with you for ever;
Joh 14:17  Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Joh 14:26  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, [whom the Father will send] in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Joh 15:26  But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you [from the Father], even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

H.) The Father keeps the believer:

Joh 10:29  My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.

Joh 17:11  And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

I.) The Father honors the believer:

Joh 12:26  If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

J.) The Father blesses the believer:

Eph 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, [who hath blessed us] with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

K.) The Father loves the believer:

2Th 2:16  Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, [even our Father, which hath loved us], and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
2Th 2:17  Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

Joh 14:21  He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: [and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father], and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

L.) The Father comforts the believer:

2Co 1:3  Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;

Rev 21:4  And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

2Th 2:16  Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
2Th 2:17  Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

M.) The Father sanctifies the believer:

Jud 1:1  Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, [to them that are sanctified by God the Father], and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:

How does he do this?

Joh 17:17  Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

N.) The Father gives peace to the believer:

1Co 1:3  Grace be unto you, [and peace, from God our Father], and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

O.) The Father is glorified when each believer bears fruit:

Joh 15:8  Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

P.) The Father reveals the truth to the believer:

Mat 11:25  At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

(babes in Christ, the new believer)

Eph 1:17  That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
Eph 1:18  The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
Eph 1:19  And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
Eph 1:20  Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
Eph 1:21  Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:

Q.) The Father supplies the needs of the believer:

Mat 6:32  (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
Mat 6:33  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

R.) The Father chastens His believers:

Heb 12:5  And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
Heb 12:6  For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
Heb 12:7  If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
Heb 12:8  But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
Heb 12:9  Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
Heb 12:10  For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

S.) The Father restores the believer:

Psa 23:3  He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Psa 51:12  Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

Luk 15:21  And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
Luk 15:22  But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
Luk 15:23  And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
Luk 15:24  For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

T.) The Father will one day gather all believers in Christ Jesus:

Eph 1:10  That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
Eph 1:11  In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
Eph 1:12  That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

U.) The Father will one day reward every believer:

Mat 6:1  Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

Heb 11:6  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

2Ti 4:8  Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

V.) The Father will one day “Glorify” all believers:

Rom 8:30  Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, [them he also glorified].

Joh 5:26  For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;
Joh 5:27  And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

IV.) Our Father in Heaven lived up to His names of the Old Testament.

What are some of the Jewish names given of God?

Exo 20:1  And God spake all these words, saying,
Exo 20:2  [I am] the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

D.) El Shaddai: The covenant keeping God.

Gen 17:1  And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.

Gen 14:19  And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:
Gen 14:20  And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
Gen 14:21  And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.
Gen 14:22  And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,

F.) El Olam: The everlasting God

Gen 21:33  And Abraham planted a grove in Beersheba, and called there on the name of the LORD, the everlasting God.

Isa 40:28  Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

There are others:

G.) Jehovah-Jireh: The Lord will provide.

J.) Jehovah-Sabbaoth: The Lord of Hosts.

1Sa 1:3  And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto [the LORD of hosts] in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the LORD, were there.

K.) Jehovah-Maccaddeshcem: The Lord Thy Sanctifier.

Exo 31:13  Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that [I am the LORD that doth sanctify you].

L.) Jehovah-Tsidkenu: The Lord Our Righteousness.

Jer 23:6  In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

We should all realize the “Trinity of God”: The “Trinity” is composed of three united Persons without separate existence and so completely united as to form One God. The divine nature subsists in three distinctions.

Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

The Bible says:

Isa 44:8  Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.

Isa 43:10  Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
Isa 43:11  I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.
Isa 43:12  I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God.
Isa 43:13  Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?

God does as pleases, His Own Will:

Eph 1:11  In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him [who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will]:

Who are we to question such a God as we have?

Let’s pray!

What Do We Know About Jesus?

What Do We Know About Jesus?

Our Text:

Joh 13:15  For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
Joh 13:16  Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
Joh 13:17  If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.

If Jesus is to be our example we need to know all we can about Him!

A.) His last name is not Christ:

The Title “Christ” appears 553 times in the New Testament. The title Christ is from the Greek word “Christos” which means “anointed. The Messiah. Christ is the anointed of God prophesied in the Old Testament. The One True Messiah.

G5547 Christos
khris-tos’
From G5548; anointed, that is, the Messiah, an epithet of Jesus: – Christ.

The human name “Jesus” was given to him at birth because the angel Gabriel said to do this.

Luk 1:26  And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

Luk 1:30  And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
Luk 1:31  And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

G2424 Ie¯sous
ee-ay-sooce’
Of Hebrew origin [H3091]; Jesus (that is, Jehoshua), the name of our Lord and two (three) other Israelites: – Jesus.

The name is used 977 times in the New Testament.

In Hebrew Jesus would have been called Joshua.

B.) The title “Lord” as in “Lord Jesus” is used only one time in the Gospels and this by Luke on the day of the resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Luk 24:3  And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.

The title “Lord Jesus Christ” is used 85 times in the New Testament.

The title “Lord” is used 747 times in the New Testament.

G2962 kurios
koo’-ree-os
From kuros (supremacy); supreme in authority, that is, (as noun) controller; by implication Mr. (as a respectful title): – God, Lord, master, Sir.

When we say Our Lord Jesus Christ then we are saying ” Jesus who is supreme in authority, our Master who is the promised Messiah of God, God Himself in the flesh.

This title fits because that is who He is!

What are we supposed to do with this information?

Paul says:

Rom 13:14  But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

If we can look like Jesus then God cannot see us for what we are “sinners”. We cannot look like Jesus until we have been washed in His “blood”. God will look through the innocent blood of His Own Son and see us as sin free just like Jesus.

1.) To Those that Preach God’s Word He says:

Act 20:28  Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased [with his own blood].

2.) To those that think they no another way to Heaven He says:

Heb 9:12  Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by [his own blood] he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

3.) To those that think sanctification comes from somewhere or someone else He says:

Heb 13:12  Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with [his own blood], suffered without the gate.

4.) To those that think they can face a Holy God without Him He says:

Rev 1:5  And from Jesus Christ, [who is the faithful witness], and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

5.) There is truly only one way to Heaven!

Joh 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: [no man cometh unto the Father, but by me].
Joh 14:7  If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: [and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him].

The Lord Jesus Christ is God that came down from Heaven so that we can be saved!

Isa 7:14  Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

H6005 imma^nu^’e^l
im-maw-noo-ale’
From H5973 and H410 with suffix pronoun inserted; with us (is) God; Immanuel.

What do we know about Jesus? If he is our example we need to know all we can.

I.) His Human Nature:

The “miracle” of the “virgin” birth was not the actual birth of Christ, the Messiah, but it was the “conception of Christ in a “human” body!

The Bible say that Jesus was as much God as if He had never been man and He was as much man as if He had never been God.

If Jesus the human is to be our example then we need to learn all we can about Him.

1.) Jesus had human parents:

Luk 1:31  And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

Gal 4:4  But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

Joseph was a parent to Jesus but he was not His Father:

Mat 1:16  And Jacob begat Joseph [the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus], who is called Christ.

The Bible says:

Mat 1:18  Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, [before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost].

This is the miracle of the “Virgin Birth”.

2.) Jesus had a body, a soul and a spirit just as we all do.

a.) Body:

Mat 26:12  For in that [she hath poured this ointment on my body], she did it for my burial.

b.) Soul:

Joh 12:27  [Now is my soul troubled]; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

Mat 26:38  Then saith he unto them, [My soul is exceeding sorrowful], even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

c.) Spirit:

Mar 2:8  And immediately when [Jesus perceived in his spirit] that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?

Luk 23:46  And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, [Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit]: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

3.) Jesus looked to be human in fact He looked like a Jewish man:

Joh 4:9  Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, [How is it that thou, being a Jew], askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

He did not look like an old man.

Joh 8:57  Then said the Jews unto him, [Thou art not yet fifty years old], and hast thou seen Abraham?

He looked like a gardener.

Joh 20:15  Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? [She, supposing him to be the gardener], saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.

4.) Jesus was flesh and blood not like the angels.

Heb 2:14  [Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same]; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

5.) Jesus started as a babe in a manger but other people watched him grow into an adult:

Luk 2:40  And [the child grew], and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

6.) Jesus asked questions to get a response from others.

Luk 2:46  And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and [asking them questions].

7.) Jesus increased in wisdom in His human nature.

Luk 2:52  And [Jesus increased in wisdom and stature], and in favour [with God and man].

8.) Jesus prayed and He prayed often.

Mar 1:35  And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, [he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed].

Notice He loved closet prayer.

Mat 6:6  But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Luk 11:1  And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.

He also prayed with others.

9.) Jesus was tempted of Satan.

Mat 4:1  Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness [to be tempted of the devil].

Heb 2:18  For in that [he himself hath suffered being tempted], he is able to succour them that are tempted.

Heb 4:15  For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; [but was in all points tempted like as we are, (yet without sin)].

10.) Jesus learned obedience:

Heb 5:8  Though he were a Son, [yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered];

11.) Jesus got hungry:

Mat 4:2  And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, [he was afterward an hungred].

Mat 21:18  Now in the morning as he returned into the city, [he hungered].

12.) Jesus got thirsty:

Joh 4:7  There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: [Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink].

Joh 19:28  After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, [that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst].

13.) Jesus got weary:

Joh 4:6  Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, [being wearied with his journey], sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.

14.) Jesus slept just as humans do:

Mat 8:24  And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: [but he was asleep].

We can see He slept peacefully.

15.) Jesus expressed love for those around Him.

Mar 10:21  Then Jesus beholding him [loved him], and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

You do not see a lustful love but natural love for each other. This world is missing this love more and more every day.

God calls it “agape love”.

G25 a??apa´? agapao¯
ag-ap-ah’-o
Perhaps from a?´?a? agan (much; or compare [H5689]); [to love (in a social or moral sense)]: – (be-) love (-ed). Compare G5368.

16.) Jesus had compassion for others, even those he had not ever met:

Mat 9:36  [But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them], because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

17.) Jesus got angry when people were abused and used man’s laws to stop good from happening and it grieved Him:

Mar 3:5  And [when he had looked round about on them with anger], [being grieved for the hardness of their hearts], he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

18.) Jesus cried, He wept with compassion for others:

Joh 11:33  When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,
Joh 11:34  And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.
Joh 11:35  Jesus wept.

He cried for His nation He lived in.

Luk 19:41  And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,
Luk 19:42  Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
Luk 19:43  For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,
Luk 19:44  And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

19.) Jesus also had some joyful happy times:

Heb 12:2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; [who for the joy that was set before him] endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Jesus didn’t get joy from dying on that cross but He did get joy from making sure my debt and your debt were paid.

Luk 10:21  In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; [for so it seemed good in thy sight].

I believe Jesus had all around Him rolling in the floor when He told this story:

Luk 18:25  For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

I believe He was talking about a full size camel and an actual needle of that time.

20.) Jesus was troubled with things that went on around Him:

Joh 11:33  When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, [he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled],

Joh 12:27  [Now is my soul troubled]; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

Joh 13:21  When Jesus had thus said, [he was troubled in spirit], and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

Mar 14:33  And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy;
Mar 14:34  And saith unto them, [My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch].

Notice Jesus wanted other humans to be near Him in these times.

21.) Jesus suffered from the things of this world:

1Pe 4:1  Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

Notice He suffered for the Church.

22.) Jesus bled real blood:

Joh 19:34  But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, [and forthwith came there out blood and water].

23.) Jesus died a real death:

Mat 27:50  Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, [yielded up the ghost].

1Co 15:3  For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, [how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures];

There was no New Testament at that time so Paul was saying according to the Old Testament scriptures.

24.) Jesus was buried in a real tomb:

Mat 27:59  And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,
Mat 27:60  And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.

You would find it real hard to see anything other than a true human being that went through life like most all others except for one thing. There is not another human that ever lived that went through all these things and yet never did anything wrong morally or against the scriptures. Jesus never sinned!

To be God Jesus had to show us proof that He was God and not human!

II.) The Divine Nature of Jesus.

1.) Jesus was omnipotent:

Omnipotent means to have unlimited power.

Mat 28:18  And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

a.) Jesus had power over disease:

Mat 8:1  When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.
Mat 8:2  And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
Mat 8:3  And [Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed].
Mat 8:4  And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

Luk 4:39  And [he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them].

Now if one of those false prophets that say they have this power come into your area take them to nearest hospital and clear all the rooms of the ill people. You will see only Jesus had this power until He allowed the Apostles limited powers.

b.) Jesus had power over demon:

Mat 8:16  When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and [he cast out the spirits with his word], and healed all that were sick:
Mat 8:17  That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

We can see the reason Jesus did these things was to fulfill prophecy.

Mat 8:28  And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.
Mat 8:29  And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?
Mat 8:30  And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding.
Mat 8:31  So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.
Mat 8:32  And [he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out], they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.

An evil demon need to possess some flesh to have any power. Notice they also drove the swine mad as they had those two men.

Luk 4:35  And [Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not].

c.) Jesus had power over men:

Mat 9:9  And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and [he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him].

Joh 17:2  [As thou hast given him power over all flesh], [that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him].

d.) Jesus had power over nature:

Mat 8:26  And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? [Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm].

e.) Jesus had the power over sin:

Mat 9:1  And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city.
Mat 9:2  And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.
Mat 9:3  And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.
Mat 9:4  And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?
Mat 9:5  For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?
Mat 9:6  But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.
Mat 9:7  And he arose, and departed to his house.
Mat 9:8  But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.

f.) Jesus had the power over foolish traditions:

Mat 9:10  And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples.
Mat 9:11  And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners?
Mat 9:12  But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.
Mat 9:13  But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Mat 9:14  Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?
Mat 9:15  And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.
Mat 9:16  No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse.
Mat 9:17  Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.

g.) Jesus had the power over death:

Luk 7:14  And he came and touched [the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise].
Luk 7:15  And [he that was dead sat up, and began to speak]. And he delivered him to his mother.

This the only man that ever walked home from his own funeral!

Luk 8:54  And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.
Luk 8:55  And [her spirit came again, and she arose straightway]: and he commanded to give her meat.
Luk 8:56  And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.

This child was raised just before her funeral. The Jew buried their dead the same day that they died.

Joh 11:4  When Jesus heard that, he said, [This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby].

Joh 11:21  Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
Joh 11:22  But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.
Joh 11:23  Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
Joh 11:24  Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
Joh 11:25  Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
Joh 11:26  And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

Joh 11:39  Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.
Joh 11:40  Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
Joh 11:41  Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
Joh 11:42  And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
Joh 11:43  And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.

The Jew had a belief that it may be possible to raise some from the dead up to three days but no amount of power could raise the dead after four days because the flesh would start to deteriorate.

Jesus put an end to that nonsense. Jesus will raise every saint of God to rejoin their spirit on the day of the rapture of the Church.

1Th 4:13  But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
1Th 4:14  For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
1Th 4:15  For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
1Th 4:16  For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1Th 4:17  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

One day, four days, four hundred days, four thousand days it will not make any difference!

2.) Jesus was omniscient:

Omniscient means Jesus had knowledge of all things. He was all seeing with infinite knowledge of not only this universe but His entire creation.

a.) He knew where Nathaniel had been.

Joh 1:48  Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.

b.) He knew how Judas plotted to betray Him.

Joh 6:70  Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?

Joh 13:11  For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.

c.) Jesus knew the hearts of the Pharisees.

Mat 12:25  And [Jesus knew their thoughts], and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:

Luk 5:22  But when [Jesus perceived their thoughts], he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts?

Luk 6:8  But [he knew their thoughts], and said to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth.

Luk 7:39  Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.
Luk 7:40  [And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee]. And he saith, Master, say on.

d.) Jesus knew the thoughts of the scribes.

Mat 9:3  And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.
Mat 9:4  And [Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts]?

e.) Jesus knew how close one scribe was to being saved by his thoughts.

Mar 12:32  And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:
Mar 12:33  And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
Mar 12:34  And [when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God]. And no man after that durst ask him any question.

f.) Jesus knew the history of the Samaritan woman.

Joh 4:29  Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?

g.) Jesus knew the problems of His disciples.

Luk 9:46  Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest.
Luk 9:47  And [Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart], took a child, and set him by him,

Jesus retained every bit of His deity while He was on this Earth but He voluntarily abstained from using it, that He might be totally dependent on the Holy Spirit as he expects us to be. Jesus by this would not use all His power in certain areas.

3.) Jesus was omnipresent:

Omnipresent means Jesus is present in all places at the same time. Only God has this power. Not man, not any angel and not Satan the devil nor his demon.

Mat 18:20  For where two or three are gathered together in my name, [there am I in the midst of them].

No matter where they are gathered!

Mat 28:20  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, [lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world]. Amen.

No matter where you go teaching!

Joh 3:13  And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but [he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven].

Jesus says he was still in Heaven even when He was on this earth in that body of flesh!

Joh 14:20  At that day ye shall know [that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you].

Jesus says the day you are saved He comes to live inside of each believer.

4.) Jesus is worshipped as God:

a.) By the angels:

Heb 1:6  And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And [let all the angels of God worship him].

b.) By the shepherds:

Luk 2:15  And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the [shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us].

c.) By the wise men:

Mat 2:2  Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for [we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him].

Mat 2:11  And [when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him]: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

d.) By a leper:

Mat 8:2  And, behold, [there came a leper and worshipped him], saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

e.) By a ruler:

Mat 9:18  While he spake these things unto them, behold, [there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him], saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.

f.) By a Gentile woman:

Mat 15:25  [Then came she and worshipped him], saying, Lord, help me.

g.) By a mother:

Mat 20:20  [Then came to him the mother of Zebedee’s children with her sons, worshipping him,] and desiring a certain thing of him.

h.) By a maniac:

Mar 5:2  And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
Mar 5:3  Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:
Mar 5:4  Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.
Mar 5:5  And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.
Mar 5:6  [But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him],

i.) By a man born blind:

Joh 9:32  Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.
Joh 9:33  If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.
Joh 9:34  They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
Joh 9:35  Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?
Joh 9:36  He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?
Joh 9:37  And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
Joh 9:38  And he said, [Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him].

j.) By Thomas a disciple and future Apostle:

Joh 20:28  And Thomas answered and said unto him, [My Lord and my God].

k.) By some Greeks:

Joh 12:20  And there were certain Greeks among them [that came up to worship] at the feast:
Joh 12:21  The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and [desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus].

l.) By His Apostles:

Mat 14:33  [Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God].

5.) Jesus forgave the sin of some:

Mar 2:5  When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, [Son, thy sins be forgiven thee].

and they said:

Mar 2:7  Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? [who can forgive sins but God only]?

and Jesus said:

Mar 2:10  [But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins], (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)
Mar 2:11  I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.

6.) Jesus will judge all humans:

Joh 5:22  For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:

7.) Jesus is the only Savior:

Mat 18:11  For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.

Joh 10:28  And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

Joh 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Joh 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Now we know only God could do all these things but to be the the Messiah then this man named Jesus who had the power of God would have to fulfill the prophesies of the Old Testament.

III.) Jesus the Messiah:

1.) The virgin birth:

Gen 3:15  And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and [her seed]; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

This is the first prophecy (good news) about a Messiah(Christ). The phrase “her seed” concerns Mary, the mother of Jesus alone and points to the virgin birth.

Mat 1:16  And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, [of whom] was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

This means Jesus was born without participation from Joseph.

2.) The line of Shem:

Gen 9:26  And he said, Blessed be [the LORD God of Shem]; and Canaan shall be his servant.

This verse means that true religion would come from the line of Shem.

The term “LORD” stands for Jehovah which refers to the revelation of Jesus and His redeeming power.

The phrase the God of Shem means God has chosen a peculiar people, to do His will.

3.) The line of Abraham:

Gen 12:2  And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and [make thy name great]; and thou shalt be a blessing:

This tells us further that it is from the line of Abraham from which the Messiah will come.

Mat 1:1  The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

Gal 3:16  Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

4.) The line of Isaac:

Gen 17:19  And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and [I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him].

Mat 1:2  Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;

5.) The line of Jacob:

The blessing is narrowed down even further.

Gen 25:23  And the LORD said unto her, [Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people] shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and [the elder shall serve the younger].

Gen 28:10  And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.
Gen 28:11  And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.
Gen 28:12  And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.
Gen 28:13  And, behold, [the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed];

Num 24:17  I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: [there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel], and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.

We see the Scepter will come from Jacob.

Rom 9:10  And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;
Rom 9:11  (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)
Rom 9:12  It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.
Rom 9:13  As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

6.) The line of Judah:

Gen 49:10  [The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be].

This verse makes reference that the Messiah will be King.

This verse also explains that Judah will sustain a lineage until Shiloh comes. Shiloh (a man of rest) or the Messiah, the peacemaker.

Heb 4:9  There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

A man of peace:

Psa 72:7  In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth.

Jer 23:6  In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Zec 9:9  Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.
Zec 9:10  And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak peace unto the heathen: and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from the river even to the ends of the earth.

Until Shiloh comes means: “until He comes to whom it belongs”.

7.) The line of David:

2Sa 7:12  And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, [I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and (I will establish) his kingdom].

This means a descendant of David would have an everlasting dynasty. His rule would be eternal.

Psa 89:1 I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.
Psa 89:2  For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: thy faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens.
Psa 89:3  I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant,
Psa 89:4  [Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations]. Selah.
Psa 89:5  And [the heavens shall praise thy wonders, O LORD: thy faithfulness also in the congregation of the saints].
Psa 89:6  [For who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD? who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD?
Psa 89:7  God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him].
Psa 89:8  O LORD God of hosts, who is a strong LORD like unto thee? or to thy faithfulness round about thee?
Psa 89:9  Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them.
Psa 89:10  Thou hast broken Rahab in pieces, as one that is slain; thou hast scattered thine enemies with thy strong arm.
Psa 89:11  The heavens are thine, the earth also is thine: as for the world and the fulness thereof, thou hast founded them.
Psa 89:12  The north and the south thou hast created them: Tabor and Hermon shall rejoice in thy name.
Psa 89:13  Thou hast a mighty arm: strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand.
Psa 89:14  Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.
Psa 89:15  Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.
Psa 89:16  In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted.
Psa 89:17  For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted.
Psa 89:18  For the LORD is our defence; and the Holy One of Israel is our king.
Psa 89:19  [Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, and saidst, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people].

8.) How would all this take place?

a.) Isa 7:14  Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

God provided a sign for all to know the truth:

Mat 1:21  And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Mat 1:22  Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
Mat 1:23  Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

b.) Mic 5:2  But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

God promised the exact place of birth for all to know!

Mat 2:6  And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.

9.) There would be a forerunner:

Isa 40:3  The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

We know this was John the Baptist.

Mat 3:1  In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,
Mat 3:2  And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Mat 3:3  For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

Joh 1:23  He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.

We know that Malachi reinforced what Isaiah said.

Mal 3:1  Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.

10.) The Messiah would have a mission:

Isa 61:1  The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
Isa 61:2  To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
Isa 61:3  To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

Luke wrote of Jesus:

Luk 4:18  The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
Luk 4:19  To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

Jesus then said:

Luk 4:20  And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
Luk 4:21  And he began to say unto them, [This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears].

How would some see this Messiah:

Isa 9:1  Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.
Isa 9:2  The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.

You see this was not in Jerusalem.

Mat 4:13  And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:
Mat 4:14  That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,
Mat 4:15  The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;
Mat 4:16  The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.
Mat 4:17  From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

11.) The Messiah would have a ministry:

a.)Isa 53:4  Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

Fulfilled:

Mat 8:17  That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

b.) Isa 35:5  Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
Isa 35:6  Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.

Fulfilled:

Mat 11:5  The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
Mat 11:6  And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

c.) Isa 42:2  He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.
Isa 42:3  A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.
Isa 42:4  He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.

This would be nothing like the Pharisees and Sadducees were.

Fulfilled:

Mat 12:19  He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets.
Mat 12:20  A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.
Mat 12:21  And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.

12.) The Messiah would teach a certain way:

Psa 78:2  I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:
Psa 78:3  Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.

Fulfilled by Jesus:

Mat 13:35  That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

13.) The Messiah would present Himself in certain ways:

a.)Zec 9:9  Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

Fulfilled by Jesus:

Mat 21:5  Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.

b.)Psa 118:25  Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity.
Psa 118:26  Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD.

Fulfilled by Jesus:

Mat 21:9  And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.

c.) Psa 110:1 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
Psa 110:2  The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.

Fulfilled:

Mat 22:44  The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?
Mat 22:45  If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?

14.) The Messiah would be rejected:

a.) Psa 118:22  The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.

Fulfilled in Jesus:

Mat 21:42  Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

b.) Isa 29:13  Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

Fulfilled in Jesus:

Mat 15:8  This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
Mat 15:9  But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

c.) Zec 13:7  Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones.

Fulfilled in Jesus:

Mat 26:31  Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

d.) Jer 18:1  The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
Jer 18:2  Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.

Jer 19:1  Thus saith the LORD, Go and get a potter’s earthen bottle, and take of the ancients of the people, and of the ancients of the priests;
Jer 19:2  And go forth unto the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the east gate, and proclaim there the words that I shall tell thee,
Jer 19:3  And say, Hear ye the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem; Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, the which whosoever heareth, his ears shall tingle.
Jer 19:4  Because they have forsaken me, and have estranged this place, and have burned incense in it unto other gods, whom neither they nor their fathers have known, nor the kings of Judah, and have filled this place with the blood of innocents;
Jer 19:5  They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind:
Jer 19:6  Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that this place shall no more be called Tophet, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The valley of slaughter.
Jer 19:7  And I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place; and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hands of them that seek their lives: and their carcases will I give to be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.
Jer 19:8  And I will make this city desolate, and an hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished and hiss because of all the plagues thereof.
Jer 19:9  And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend in the siege and straitness, wherewith their enemies, and they that seek their lives, shall straiten them.
Jer 19:10  Then shalt thou break the bottle in the sight of the men that go with thee,
Jer 19:11  And shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Even so will I break this people and this city, as one breaketh a potter’s vessel, that cannot be made whole again: and they shall bury them in Tophet, till there be no place to bury.
Jer 19:12  Thus will I do unto this place, saith the LORD, and to the inhabitants thereof, and even make this city as Tophet:
Jer 19:13  And the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, shall be defiled as the place of Tophet, because of all the houses upon whose roofs they have burned incense unto all the host of heaven, and have poured out drink offerings unto other gods.
Jer 19:14  Then came Jeremiah from Tophet, whither the LORD had sent him to prophesy; and he stood in the court of the LORD’S house; and said to all the people,
Jer 19:15  Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon this city and upon all her towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it, because they have hardened their necks, that they might not hear my words.

Jer 32:6  And Jeremiah said, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Jer 32:7  Behold, Hanameel the son of Shallum thine uncle shall come unto thee, saying, Buy thee my field that is in Anathoth: for the right of redemption is thine to buy it.
Jer 32:8  So Hanameel mine uncle’s son came to me in the court of the prison according to the word of the LORD, and said unto me, Buy my field, I pray thee, that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin: for the right of inheritance is thine, and the redemption is thine; buy it for thyself. Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD.
Jer 32:9  And I bought the field of Hanameel my uncle’s son, that was in Anathoth, and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels of silver.

Zec 11:12  And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver.
Zec 11:13  And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD.

Fulfilled in Jesus:

Mat 27:9  Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value;
Mat 27:10  And gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord appointed me.

If we cannot tell by now that there is absolutely no way for any one human being to fulfill all these things then we must accept that the Lord Jesus Christ is exactly whom He says He is.

And yet there is more:

IV.) Jesus the One that Would Suffer for Us ALL:

a.) The Messiah would suffer for the Sin of the World:

Psa 22:1 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?
Psa 22:2  O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.

Fulfillment in Jesus:

Mat 27:46  And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

b.) He would be ridiculed:

Psa 22:7  All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,
Psa 22:8  He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.

Fulfillment in Jesus:

Mat 27:39  And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,

Mat 27:43  He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.

c.) His hands and feet would be pierced:

Psa 22:16  For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

Fulfillment in Jesus:

Joh 20:25  The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.

d.) He would have no broken bones:

Psa 22:17  I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.

Psa 34:20  He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.

Fulfillment:

Joh 19:33  But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
Joh 19:34  But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
Joh 19:35  And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
Joh 19:36  For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.

e.) Soldiers gambled for His clothing:

Psa 22:18  They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

Fulfillment in Jesus:

Joh 19:24  They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.

f.) The Messiah would pray for His tormenters:

Psa 22:24  For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.

Fulfillment in Jesus:

Mat 26:39  And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

Heb 5:7  Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;
Heb 5:8  Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
Heb 5:9  And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

Luk 23:34  Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

g.) He would be disfigured:

Isa 52:14  As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:

Isa 50:6  I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

Fulfillment in Jesus:

Joh 19:1  Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.

h.) He was scourged and He would died:

Isa 53:5  But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Isa 53:11  He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
Isa 53:12  Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

Gen 3:15  And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Fulfillment in Jesus:

Joh 19:1  Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.

Joh 19:18  Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.

i.) He would be resurrected:

Psa 16:9  Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.
Psa 16:10  For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
Psa 16:11  Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Psa 22:22  I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.

Fulfillment in Jesus:

Mat 28:6  He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

Act 2:22  Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:
Act 2:23  Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
Act 2:24  Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.
Act 2:25  For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:
Act 2:26  Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:
Act 2:27  Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
Act 2:28  Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.
Act 2:29  Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.
Act 2:30  Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
Act 2:31  He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
Act 2:32  This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.

j.) The Messiah would ascend back to Heaven:

Psa 68:18  Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.

The Fulfillment in Jesus Christ, The Messiah:

Luk 24:50  And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.
Luk 24:51  And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.
Luk 24:52  And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:
Luk 24:53  And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.

Act 1:9  And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
Act 1:10  And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
Act 1:11  Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

V.) Prophet, Priest, and Coming King.

1.) He would be a prophet:

Deu 18:15  The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;
Deu 18:16  According to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.
Deu 18:17  And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken.
Deu 18:18  I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

Fulfilled in Jesus Christ:

Act 3:20  And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
Act 3:21  Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
Act 3:22  For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.
Act 3:23  And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.
Act 3:24  Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.
Act 3:25  Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.
Act 3:26  Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.

2.) He is would be Priest:

Psa 110:4  The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.

Fulfilled in Jesus Christ:

Heb 5:5  So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.
Heb 5:6  As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
Heb 5:7  Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;
Heb 5:8  Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
Heb 5:9  And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
Heb 5:10  Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.

3.) He will return as King:

Num 24:17  I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.

Psa 2:1  Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
Psa 2:2  The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
Psa 2:3  Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
Psa 2:4  He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
Psa 2:5  Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
Psa 2:6  Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
Psa 2:7  I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
Psa 2:8  Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

This will be fulfilled by the Second Coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ Our Lord:

Rev 19:11  And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
Rev 19:12  His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
Rev 19:13  And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
Rev 19:14  And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
Rev 19:15  And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
Rev 19:16  And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

There is so much more for us to learn about Our Master. To learn about Him we must start in the Book of Genesis and learn of Him through the Book of Revelation.

The Bible Says:

Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2  The same was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Joh 1:4  In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
Joh 1:5  And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
Joh 1:6  There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
Joh 1:7  The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
Joh 1:8  He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
Joh 1:9  That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
Joh 1:10  He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
Joh 1:11  He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
Joh 1:12  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Joh 1:13  Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Joh 1:14  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Let’s Pray with Him for the salvation of all who are lost!

The Twelve Parts of Sin

THE TWELVE PARTS OF SIN

Text:

Gen 4:7  If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, [sin lieth at the door]. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

Intro:

It is obvious, at least it is once we are saved, that the world just does not understand what God means about sin. There are twelve Greek and Hebrew words that were translated as “Sin” in our English language. We need to look at each of these words to have a better understanding of what God means.

I.) Biblical words that were translated as “sin”:

1.) Chata is a Hebrew word: It means TO HAVE MISSED THE MARK.

The first time “chata” is used in the Bible is Gen 39:9. Joseph said: “because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and {sin against God}”?

“If Joseph had succumbed to Potiphar’s wife he would have “missed the mark”.

Gen 39:9  There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: [how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God]?

If you were target shooting and your target that had a bull’s eye on it, then if you missed the bull’s eye you “missed the mark”.

2.) Asah is a Hebrew word: It means A WRONGFUL ACT.

Lev 5:17  And if a soul sin, and [commit any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of the LORD; though he wist it not, yet is he guilty], and shall bear his iniquity.

If you break any of the ten moral laws, the Ten Commandments, it is a sin in the eyes of God.

3.) Chet a Hebrew word meaning “the failure to do what you ought to do”.

Lev 24:15  And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, [Whosoever curseth his God shall bear his sin].

Jas 4:17  Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

We ought to respect Our Lord!

4.) Avon a Hebrew word meaning Wickedness, living in a state of sin:

Gen 19:15  And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; [lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city].

Sodom was such a place to live in. This lifestyle is being pushed on every person in our nation as acceptable. I am not sorry to say in the eyes of God it is “Sin”.

5.) Ashmah a Hebrew word meaning Guilt, over anything that convicts you.

2Ch 28:13  And said unto them, Ye shall not bring in the captives hither: [for whereas we have offended against the LORD already, ye intend to add more to our sins and to our trespass]: for our trespass is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel.

6.) Pesha a Hebrew word meaning to trespass, going into somebody else’s territory.

Gen 31:36  And Jacob was wroth, and chode with Laban: and Jacob answered and said to Laban, What is my trespass? what is my sin, that thou hast so hotly pursued after me?

Jacob was not a thief.

7.) Shagah a Hebrew word meaning To stray, wandering from the teachings of the Bible.

Lev 4:13  And if the whole congregation of Israel sin through ignorance, and the thing be hid from the eyes of the assembly, and they have done somewhat against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which should not be done, and are guilty;
Lev 4:14  [When the sin, which they have sinned against it, is known], then the congregation shall offer a young bullock for the sin, and bring him before the tabernacle of the congregation.

8.) Avel a Hebrew word meaning evil or perverted.

Psa 58:2  [Yea, in heart ye work wickedness]; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth.
Psa 58:3  The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.
Psa 58:4  Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;
Psa 58:5  Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely.

9.) Bagad a Hebrew word meaning deceived, “you think you are right but you are not”.

Pro 25:18  A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.
Pro 25:19  [Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint].

10.) Paraptoma a Greek word meaning an unplanned slip, “you should get right back up because you cannot enjoy sin.

Gal 6:1  Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

11.) Parabates A Greek word meaning to wreck or break something, (such as a broken marriage)

Mat 15:1  Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,
Mat 15:2  Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.
Mat 15:3  But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
Mat 15:4  For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
Mat 15:5  But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
Mat 15:6  And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
Mat 15:7  Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
Mat 15:8  This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
Mat 15:9  But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

12.) Anomos A Greek word meaning “lawless”, Totally uncontrolled and go beyond the reach of God.

2Th 2:8  And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
2Th 2:9  Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
2Th 2:10  And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

II.) Sin is an “action”.

a.) A Transgression, stepping over the line.
b.) An Error, departing from the truth.
c.) A Missing of the mark God gave to us, a failure in Holiness.
d.) An Iniquity, the unethical order of life.

III.) Sin is a “nature”.

a.) You do not become a sinner by sinning.
b.) You Are Born A Sinner.
c.) Even a Christian has to fight their old nature.

IV.) Sin is a “condition”.

a.) Sin is a way of life for a lot of people.
b.) Sin means the “absence of righteousness”.
c.) Sin is a HOPELESS CONDITION. (A sinner “Requires” a redeemer)

V.) The correct meaning of Sin:

Sin is a violation against the Word of God and the known will of God.

God gave the Nation of Israel not just the ten moral laws, (The Ten Commandments) but He actually gave them 613 laws to live by. Of course they they could not obey them all, all the time.

God did not give these laws to the Gentiles.

Rom 2:14  For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:

But God said these same laws were the schoolmaster for the Gentiles. Laws to learn what He considered Sin.

Gal 3:24  Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
Gal 3:25  But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

Just as the nation of Israel, no one could obey all 613 laws, all the time so if anyone says they have never sinned of course they have to be a liar.

1Jn 1:8  If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1Jn 1:9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

We will still battle our sinful flesh as long as we are in it. Mankind can never save itself. We can only be saved through Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ is the only one that can keep us saved. This how we know the “Love of God”.

Joh 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Joh 3:17  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Joh 3:18  He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Let’s Pray to Our Saviour for Forgiveness Daily!

The Formula For A Blessing

THE FORMULA FOR A BLESSING

INTRO:

Only a foolish man would not want a “blessing” of God! Where do these blessings come from?

Rev 1:3  Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

And how do we obtain these blessings?

Joh 14:13  And whatsoever ye shall ask [in my name], that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
Joh 14:14  If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Notice if that prayer is not in the name of Jesus it will get into Heaven and In Heaven is where all blessings begin there journey to us.

TEXT:

(Teach us to PRAY)

Luk 11:1  And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
Luk 11:2  And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
Luk 11:3  Give us day by day our daily bread.
Luk 11:4  And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

I.) THE FORMULA:

1.) THERE HAS GOT TO BE A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP:

(Our Father)

If God had not wanted to have a close personal relationship with each and everyone one of us HE WOULD HAVE NEVER MADE HIMSELF KNOWN TO US. God did not have to give us His Holy Word. He chose to do it. The “veil” of the Temple was torn in half, opening the door to prayer by each individual to reach a Holy God. He provided the way.

HOW CAN WE NOT TALK TO HIM!

Heb 4:14  Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
Heb 4:15  For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Heb 4:16  Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

2.) THERE HAS TO BE FAITH IN HIM:

(which art in heaven)

How can we expect anything from God if we do not believe on Him.

Heb 11:6  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

3.) THERE HAS TO BE A HOLY RESPECT FOR HIM:

(Hallowed be thy name)

Hallowed means: Consecrated to a sacred use, or to religious exercises; treated as sacred; reverenced.

These are just words that cannot come close to how we should reverence our Lord.

Reverence is nearly equivalent to veneration, but expresses something less of the same emotion. It differs from awe, which is an emotion compounded of fear, dread or terror, with admiration of something great, but not necessarily implying love or affection. We feel reverence for a parent, and for an upright magistrate, but we stand in awe of a tyrant. This distinction may not always be observed.

We will stand in awe of God when we see Him and that day is coming soon. After we overcome our fear we will be in awe of Him for we will see Him for what He is, God id a God of Love!

Ecc 12:13  Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

1Jn 4:16  And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
1Jn 4:17  Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
1Jn 4:18  [There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love].
1Jn 4:19  We love him, because he first loved us.

1Jn 3:2  Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

4.) THERE HAS TO BE AN EXPECTATION OF GOD:

(Thy kingdom come)

EXPECTATION MEANS: The act of expecting or looking forward to a future event with at least some reason to believe the event will happen. Expectation differs from hope. Hope originates in desire, and may exist with little or no ground of belief that the desired event will arrive. Expectation is founded on some reasons which render the event probably. Hope is directed to some good; expectation is directed to good or evil.

We have got to know that not only will God hear our prayer but that He is willing and able to provide that need. God will answer every prayer that reaches into His throne room!

King David wrote these words:

Psa 37:25  I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

Psa 62:5  My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.

Joh 15:7  If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

5.) THERE HAS TO BE SUBMISSION TO GOD AND HIS WILL:

(Thy will be done)

There is a reason and purpose for each and every one of God’s children. No one else has the same purpose that each of us has on our own. God will provide the things it takes to fulfill the purpose He has for you!

Rom 9:11  (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)

2Ti 1:9  Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

AND WE CAN KNOW OUR PURPOSE IS FOR GOOD AND NOT BAD THINGS.

Rom 8:28  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

6.) THERE MUST BE A PETITION:

(Give us day by day our daily bread)

Petition means: to ask, properly to urge or press.

Notice this is a daily request!

God knows our needs before we even ask.

Mat 6:7  But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Mat 6:8  Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

We must ask so we will know ourselves that He hears us.

Php 4:6  Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7.) THERE MUST BE A CONFESSION:

(And forgive us our sins)

Though we do not always like to admit it we all have sin in our lives. There is the sin of commission.(Knowing that we have sinned) and the Sin of omission. (Not doing what we know to do)

1Jn 1:8  If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1Jn 1:9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1Jn 1:10  If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Jas 4:17  Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

WE ALREADY KNOW THIS IS A DAILY THING: (Give us day by day)

8.) THERE MUST BE COMPASSION FOR OTHERS:

(for we also forgive)

God wants to bless us so how can we expect forgiveness when we will not forgive those that have done us wrong. The word for that is hypocrite.

Psa 78:38  [But he, being full of compassion], [forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not]: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.

WE KNOW GOD DOES NOT CHANGE.

Joe 2:18  Then will the LORD be jealous for his land, and [pity his people].

Pity is another word for compassion.

The words of Jesus Christ Our Lord.

Mat 18:33  Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?

9.) THERE MUST BE A SERVANTHOOD:

(And lead us)

We must get out of God’s way to get under the spout where the blessings come out!

“WHERE HE LEADS ME I WILL FOLLOW”, SHOULD BE THE ONLY SONG IN OUR HEART.

Rev 1:1  The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, [to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass]; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

Php 2:5  Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Php 2:6  Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
Php 2:7  But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

1Co 7:22  For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord’s freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ’s servant.

2Ti 2:24  And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
2Ti 2:25  In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
2Ti 2:26  And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Mar 10:44  And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.
Mar 10:45  For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

10.) THERE MUST BE A DEPENDANCE:

(but deliver us from evil)

We must believe that God can and will deliver us from Hell and His coming wrath on this world!

THIS IS NOT “INDEPENDENCE” TO DO AS WE WILL BUT WILLING TO DO THE WILL OF GOD.

Joh 3:19  And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
Joh 3:20  For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
Joh 3:21  But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Rom 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Rom 10:11  For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

II.) HOW DO I CHEAT MYSELF OUT OF GOD’S BLESSINGS?

1.) WHEN I FAIL TO FOLLOW THIS FORMULA HE GAVE ME THEN MY PRAYER WILL BE HINDERED:

HINDERED MEANS: Stopped; impeded; obstructed; retarded.

Jas 1:23  For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
Jas 1:24  For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

2.) UNCONFESSED SIN WILL HINDER MY PRAYER:

Psa 66:18  If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
Psa 66:19  But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer.
Psa 66:20  Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.

3.) WHEN I PRAY OUT OF CARNAL MOTIVES:

Jas 4:3  Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
Jas 4:4  Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
Jas 4:5  Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
Jas 4:6  But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

4.) WHEN I SIMPLY DO NOT BELIEVE GOD WILL DO THESE THINGS:

Jas 1:6  But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
Jas 1:7  For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
Jas 1:8  A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Heb 11:6  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

5.)  WHEN I SIMPLY CANNOT GET ALONG WITH PEOPLE AND I HAVE DOMESTIC PROBLEMS:

1Pe 3:7  Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
1Pe 3:8  [Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
1Pe 3:9  Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing].
1Pe 3:10  For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
1Pe 3:11  Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
1Pe 3:12  For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

THE BIBLE SAYS:

Jas 5:16  Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. [The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.]

OUR PRAYERS MUST BE SINCERE AND THEY MUST BE FERVENT.

AMEN.

The Holy Trinity

TRINITARIAN THEOLOGY

INTRO:

The Holy Trinity. If we just accept God’s word as it is written we should not have any problem believing the Holy Trinity. God is alive and we know He is triune because He said He made us in His image and we are triune.

1Th 5:23  And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God [your whole spirit] and [soul] and [body] be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We cannot take Our God and try to imagine everything of Him in our finite minds.

Isa 55:8  For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
Isa 55:9  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

The Holy trinity is a stumbling block to almost every false religion there is and most every cult is recognized by leaving out one or more of the Holy Trinity. There are a lot of mysteries in the Bible but people just seem to be “mystified” by the Holy Trinity.

I.) PROOF TEXT:

a.) Mat 28:19  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the (name of) [the Father], (and of) [the Son], (and of) [the Holy Ghost]:

b.) Col 2:8  Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after [Christ].
Col 2:9  For [in him] (dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead {bodily}).

c.) 2Co 13:14  The [grace of the Lord Jesus Christ], and [the love of God], and [the communion of the Holy Ghost], (be with you all). Amen.

b.) Gen 1:26  And God said, [Let us] make man in [our image], after [our likeness]: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Gen 1:27  [So God created man in his own image], [in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them].

II.) THE GODHEAD:

a.) The Bible does not teach that there are three “separate” Gods!

b.) For Instance: Water, H2O.

1.)We can have water as a “liquid”.
2.) Water as a solid “ice”.
3.) Water as a vapor “steam”.

If a mere created element of God can have three separate forms, WHY IS IT SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND GOD IS ONE GOD IN THREE SEPARATE FORMS. IT’S NOT THAT HARD. SOME PEOPLE JUST REFUSE TO BELIEVE.

1.) THE FATHER:

a.) Mat 6:9  After this manner therefore pray ye: [Our Father] which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

b.) ELOHIM – Mighty God.

Psa 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

c.) ADONAI – Lord – Great Ruler.

Mal 1:6  A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: [if then I be a father, where is mine honour]? and [if I be a master, where is my fear]? saith the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?

d.) JIREH – Redeemer

Isa 63:16  [Doubtless thou art our father], though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: [thou, O LORD, art our father], [our redeemer]; thy name is from everlasting.

e.) ROPHI – Healer

Jer 17:14  Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.

f.) SHALOM – Peace

Jdg 6:22  And when Gideon perceived that he was an angel of the LORD, Gideon said, Alas, [O Lord GOD]! for because I have seen an angel of the LORD face to face.
Jdg 6:23  And [the LORD said unto him, Peace be unto thee]; fear not: thou shalt not die.
Jdg 6:24  Then Gideon built an altar there unto the LORD, and called it [Jehovahshalom]: unto this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.

2.) THE SON

a.) Mat 1:23  Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name [Emmanuel], which being interpreted is, [God with us].

(Note: God in Man)

b.) Joh 10:30  [I and my Father are one].

c.) Joh 20:28  And Thomas answered and said unto him, [My Lord and my God].

d.) Mar 2:5  When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, [thy sins be forgiven thee].
Mar 2:6  But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,
Mar 2:7  Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? [who can forgive sins but God only]?

3.) THE HOLY GHOST

a.) Gen 1:1  In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Gen 1:2  And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the [Spirit of God] moved upon the face of the waters.

b.) 2Co 13:14  The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and [the communion of the Holy Ghost], be with you all. Amen.

c.) Joh 14:26  [But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost], whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

d.) THERE ARE 73 REFERENCES TO THE HOLY GHOST IN THE KING JAMES BIBLE.

INCLUDING 17 REFERENCES TO THE HOLY SPIRIT, THAT WILL MAKE 90 TIMES REFERENCING THE SPIRIT OF GOD.

III.) THE UNITY OF THE TRINITY

a.) IN CREATION:

The Father spake and the Spirit moved:

Gen 1:1  [In the beginning God] created the heaven and the earth.
Gen 1:2  And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And [the Spirit of God moved] upon the face of the waters.

Joh 1:1  [In the beginning was the Word], and [the Word was with God], and [the Word was God].

Joh 1:14  And [the Word was made flesh], and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

GOD IN MAN!

b.) THE INCARNATION:

Joh 3:16  [For God] so loved the world, that [he gave his only begotten Son], that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Luk 1:34  Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
Luk 1:35  And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

Mat 1:20  But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
Mat 1:21  And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

c.) SALVATION:

1.) The Holy Spirit convicts the sinner.
2.) The Son of God paid the price.
3.) God received the sinner into His family.

d.) INTERCESSION:

Joh 14:13  And [whatsoever ye shall ask in my name], [that will I do], [that the Father] may be glorified in the Son.

GOD LISTENS

THE SON INTERCEDES IN HEAVEN

Rom 8:34  Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, [who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us].

Heb 7:25  Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, [seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them].

THE SPIRIT INTERCEDES FROM WITHIN US HERE ON EARTH

Rom 8:26  Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: [but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered].
Rom 8:27  And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, [because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God].

AT THE NAME OF JESUS, THE SPIRIT DIRECTS AND GOD PROVIDES.

GOD IS GOOD – “ALL THE TIME”!

AMEN.

Glorification Information

GLORIFICATION INFORMATION

From time to time some of the same questions are asked by different ones.

It is always better to go ahead and ask a question than to go without the answer. Jesus Christ made our salvation simple and to not have an answer that we feel we need can cause doubt that can spread further to other things.

1.) When we get to heaven, how are we going to communicate with God?

Some short period of time after the flood of Noah’s day people gathered at the Tower of Babel in sinful worship. Until that time everyone spoke the same language.

Gen 11:6  And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
Gen 11:7  Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.
Gen 11:8  So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.
Gen 11:9  Therefore is the name of it called Babel; [because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth].

We still now speak many languages and are of many races. God will change that again one day.

Zep 3:8  Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the LORD, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.
Zep 3:9  [For then will I turn to the people a pure language], (that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent).

We will all have a “Pure Language” (that we can call upon the Lord).

Communicating with God will not be a problem!

2.) Is the “wine” of the Bible the same as the “wine” we have in today’s time?

There are many words used for wine in the Bible. Among them are Yayin and Tirosh.

The Bible Says

Pro 23:29  Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes?
Pro 23:30  They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.
Pro 23:31  [Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright].
Pro 23:32  At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.
Pro 23:33  Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.
Pro 23:34  Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.
Pro 23:35  They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.

In verse 31 we can clearly see that God makes a difference between juice and wine. It is juice until “it giveth his colour in the cup and moveth itself aright”.

God says DO NOT EVEN LOOK AT FERMENTED WINE. Anyone that preaches to you that “WINE”, as we know it is OK to drink, IS PREACHING AGAINST GOD’S WORD!

Isa 65:8  Thus saith the LORD, As the new wine is found in the cluster, and one saith, Destroy it not; for a blessing is in it: so will I do for my servants’ sakes, that I may not destroy them all.

In this verse in Isaiah, God says there is a blessing in the “Juice” of a cluster of grapes which is the fruit of the labor of the gardener. God then compares that to the servants of God, the Christians (are a blessing) which are the fruit of the labor of the Preaching of God’s Word, versus the lost who will be destroyed.

THERE IS NO BLESSING IN THE WINE, NOR IN THE DRUNK!

3.) What is “Life After Death” explain this?

Everyone has life after death.

*****The Lost.

Luk 16:19  There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
Luk 16:20  And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
Luk 16:21  And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
Luk 16:22  And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
Luk 16:23  And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
Luk 16:24  And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
Luk 16:25  But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
Luk 16:26  And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
Luk 16:27  Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house:
Luk 16:28  For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
Luk 16:29  Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
Luk 16:30  And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
Luk 16:31  And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

We can clearly see from this passage of scripture that this man went straight to Hell when he died. We can immediately notice, He has all his faculties, and his senses. He thirsts, he is tormented, he thinks, he reasons, he has compassion for his family that is still alive, he prays to Abraham.

There is no water for him and he is in torment. He is in [his life after death] until the white throne judgement. He will spend the time until the “Rapture of the Church” plus one thousand years in “HELL” until that time, and then eternity in the “BURNING LAKE OF FIRE WITH HIS MASTER(who will only be another lost person in Hell with him then) THE DEVIL(SATAN). Satan will be no ruler in Hell. He will be just one of those that are in torment.

*****The Saved.

2Co 5:1  [For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens].
2Co 5:2  For in this we groan, [earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven]:
2Co 5:3  If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
2Co 5:4  For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
2Co 5:5  Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
2Co 5:6  Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, [whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord]:
2Co 5:7  (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
2Co 5:8  [We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord].

We can just as readily see that a “Saint” of God goes immediately to Heaven when he or she dies.

The term “Life After Death” is not a term that a Christian should use often.

LIFE AFTER DEATH IS NOT THE SAME AS SALVATION!

4.) Regarding resurrections, WHAT IS THE SECOND RESURRECTION?

The Lord Jesus Christ was the “First Fruit” of the Resurrection of the Church, The Bride of Christ. The “Rapture of the Church will be the “First Resurrection”

1Co 15:47  The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
1Co 15:48  As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
1Co 15:49  And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
1Co 15:50  Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
1Co 15:51  Behold, I shew you a mystery; [We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed],
1Co 15:52  In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
1Co 15:53  For [this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality].
1Co 15:54  So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, [Death is swallowed up in victory].
1Co 15:55  O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
1Co 15:56  The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
1Co 15:57  But thanks be to God, [which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ].
1Co 15:58  Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Death is swallowed up in the Victory of Christ Our Lord.

We know of:

a.) The Resurrection of Christ.

r.) THE SECOND RESURRECTION!

Rev 20:10  And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Rev 20:11  And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
Rev 20:12  And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Rev 20:13  And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
Rev 20:14  And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Rev 20:15  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

s.) THE LOST DEAD!

Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part [in the first resurrection]: (on such the second death hath no power),

5.) When is the “Day Of Atonement”?

The Jews call this YOM KIPPUR.

God wrote these words to the Jews.

Lev 16:29  And this shall be a statute for ever unto you: that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourneth among you:
Lev 16:30  For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the LORD.
Lev 16:31  It shall be a sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls, by a statute for ever.

This will correspond with our September or October month.

Lev 16:32  And the priest, whom he shall anoint, and whom he shall consecrate to minister in the priest’s office in his father’s stead, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen clothes, even the holy garments:
Lev 16:33  And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make an atonement for the tabernacle of the congregation, and for the altar, and he shall make an atonement for the priests, and for all the people of the congregation.

*****Now since our High Priest is Jesus Christ:

Heb 9:6  Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God.
Heb 9:7  But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people:
Heb 9:8  The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:
Heb 9:9  Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;
Heb 9:10  Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.
Heb 9:11  But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
Heb 9:12  Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

Heb 9:24  For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
Heb 9:25  Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;
Heb 9:26  For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

Heb 4:14  Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

On the Cross of Calvary, Jesus Christ had these words:

Joh 19:30  When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, [It is finished]: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

THEN MY DAY OF ATONEMENT WAS THE DAY I GOT SAVED!

6.) ARE THE JEWS STILL GOD’S CHOSEN PEOPLE?

First we must believe that God keeps His word. God will keep every word and every Covenant He gave to the Jews. God will FULFILL His PROMISES TO THE JEW AND TO THE CHURCH.

The Apostle Paul wrote these words:

Rom 10:1  Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.
Rom 10:2  For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.
Rom 10:3  For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, [have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God].

The Jews still have not done this!

Rom 10:12  For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
Rom 10:13  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

All they have to do is call on the Lord Jesus Christ and THEY WILL BE SAVED.

Rom 10:19  But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you.
Rom 10:20  But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me.
Rom 10:21  But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.

They have the same answer as anyone else in this world.

Rom 11:1  I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

Those known in Israel now are called Israelies, {not Israelites}.

The Bible says:

Joh 1:11  He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

Rom 11:5  Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

There will always be a remnant of the Jew that know Jehovah God as Saviour!

The Bible says:

1Pe 2:9  But ye are a [chosen generation], a [royal priesthood], [an holy nation], [a peculiar people]; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
1Pe 2:10  Which in time past were not a people, (but are now the people of God): which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

THE BIBLE SAYS THAT THE SAINTS OF GOD(from all walks of life) ARE GOD’S CHOSEN PEOPLE.

7.) Will the Temple be rebuilt?

Amos wrote in the Old Testament:

Amo 9:10  All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, which say, The evil shall not overtake nor prevent us.
Amo 9:11  In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old:

These words were preached to the Church in the New Testament:

Act 15:14  Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.
Act 15:15  And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,
Act 15:16  After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:
Act 15:17  That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.

The Tabernacle of David:

2Sa 7:2  That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.

When King David had gotten the Ark of the Lord back to Jerusalem he made a tabernacle for it.

2Sa 6:12  And it was told king David, saying, The LORD hath blessed the house of Obededom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obededom into the city of David with gladness.
2Sa 6:13  And it was so, that when they that bare the ark of the LORD had gone six paces, he sacrificed oxen and fatlings.
2Sa 6:14  And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.
2Sa 6:15  So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.
2Sa 6:16  And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul’s daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.
2Sa 6:17  And they brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.

Further proof:

1Ch 16:1  So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it: and they offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings before God.
1Ch 16:2  And when David had made an end of offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD.

The Tabernacle of Moses was never brought to Jerusalem:

2Ch 1:3  So Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness.
2Ch 1:4  But the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjathjearim to the place which David had prepared for it: for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.

So even through Solomon’s day the Tabernacle of Moses stayed at Gibeon:

2Ch 1:13  Then Solomon came from his journey to the high place that was at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Israel.

1Ki 9:1  And it came to pass, when Solomon had finished the building of the house of the LORD, and the king’s house, and all Solomon’s desire which he was pleased to do,
1Ki 9:2  That the LORD appeared to Solomon the second time, as he had appeared unto him at Gibeon.
1Ki 9:3  And the LORD said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before me: I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.

In the book of Acts the words of Stephen:

Act 7:44  Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as he had appointed, speaking unto Moses, that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen.
Act 7:45  Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David;
Act 7:46  Who found favour before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.
Act 7:47  But Solomon built him an house.
Act 7:48  [Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet],
Act 7:49  Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?

In Amos when we see the (Tabernacle of David then this is a tent that could be raised up over night. Those ruins could be something else entirely.

1Co 3:16  Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

Stephen said God will not dwell in Temples made by man.

Paul wrote that the Saint of God is the Temple of God.

Will the Temple be rebuilt? NOT BEFORE THE RAPTURE OF THE SAINTS! MAYBE AFTER THAT. One could be built during the Tribulation period or the Anti-Christ would have no where to sit.

2Th 2:4  Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; [so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God], shewing himself that he is God.

And also another one possibly during the Millennial reign of Christ.

8.) What are the different “Crowns” in the Bible?

a.) The Soul Winner’s Crown:

1Th 2:19  For what is our hope, or joy, or [crown of rejoicing]? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?

b.) The reward for suffering persecution:

Jas 1:12  Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the [crown of life], which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

Rev 2:10  Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a [crown of life].

c.) For “victory” over the flesh:

1Co 9:24  Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
1Co 9:25  And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible (crown); but [we an incorruptible].

d.) For those that “Love Him” at His appearing:

2Ti 4:7  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
2Ti 4:8  Henceforth there is laid up for me a [crown of righteousness], which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

e.) For those who point the Lost to Christ through the ministry and Preaching:

1Pe 5:1  The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
1Pe 5:2  Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
1Pe 5:3  Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
1Pe 5:4  And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a [crown of glory] that fadeth not away.

In the book of Revelation we read:

Rev 4:4  And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.

and then:

Rev 4:10  The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,
Rev 4:11  Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

HOW MANY OF THESE CROWNS HAVE YOU EARNED?

How many will you earn before the time to do so runs out?

Would you not hate to stand before Jesus and not have crown to toss to His feet?

Amen

Bottom Line Christianity

“BOTTOM LINE CHRISTIANITY”

INTRO: What is bottom line Christianity? WHEN WE ARE BORN AGAIN AND BECOME A CHILD OF GOD AND A MEMBER OF THE CHURCH OF THE LIVING GOD, THEN THERE ARE A FEW MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF GOD THAT WE SHOULD BE WILLING TO DO.

THE MODERN CHRISTIAN CHURCH HAS VEERED AWAY FROM THESE BASIC, “MINIMUM STANDARDS” OF THE CHURCH. THESE THINGS “MUST BE” IN ORDER FOR THE GOSPEL TO GO FORWARD. WE MUST NOT FORGET THE “BEMA SEAT” JUDGEMENT OF CHRIST. THIS JUDGEMENT IS FOR THE WORK WE HAVE DONE SINCE BECOMING CHRISTIANS. THIS WILL PROBABLY HAPPEN ON THE DAY OF THE RAPTURE OR SOON AFTERWARD.

REMEMBER THESE WORDS OF GOD.

Rom 12:1  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is your reasonable service].
Rom 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

God would never ask us to do anything “unreasonable”.

At the judgement seat of Christ we will receive any reward that has been earned. The book of Revelation says:

Rev 4:10  The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and [cast their crowns before the throne], saying,
Rev 4:11  [Thou art worthy, O Lord], to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

We will realize that we are so unworthy even to be before The Lord that we will cast them back at His feet. Another thing we should consider is what God told the children of Israel. We know God never changes.

Exo 23:15  Thou shalt keep the feast of unleavened bread: (thou shalt eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded thee, in the time appointed of the month Abib; for in it thou camest out from Egypt: and [none shall appear before me empty]:)

**********GOD EXPECTS US TO RENDER OUR REASONABLE SERVICE. IF HE DID NOT HAVE WORK FOR US TO DO AFTER SALVATION THEN HE WOULD HAVE TAKEN US HOME TO HEAVEN AT THAT TIME.

I.) THE “WORK” OF THE CHURCH:

a.) It is the JOB of the Church to EVANGELIZE the WORLD.

Act 1:8  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem,(your home area) and in all Judaea(your nation), and in Samaria(your surrounding area), and unto the uttermost part of the earth(everywhere else in the world).

2Th 1:12  [That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him], according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Mar 16:15  And he said unto them, [Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature].
Mar 16:16  He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

GOD SAVED US FOR HIS “EMPLOYMENT” NOT JUST HIS “ENJOYMENT”.

Luk 14:23  And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

God wants His houses (the local churches) to be full.

   b.) To “GLORIFY” God:

Eph 3:21  Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

We all have a “Testimony” if we are Born Again. We have been saved from the coming wrath of God. HEAVEN IS OUR HOME. Home is the place to start when we witness.

1Ch 29:11  Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.

There is “none” greater than Our Lord.

Rom 11:36  For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

If we “talk the talk” then we must “WALK THE WALK”.

Psa 29:2  Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

   c.) To “INSTRUCT” believers:

Mat 28:20  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

This is an ongoing thing.

Gal 6:6  Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.

When Luke wrote down his Gospel he had this very thing in mind.

Luk 1:1  Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us,
Luk 1:2  Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word;
Luk 1:3  It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,
Luk 1:4  [That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed].

THE WORD OF GOD IS TRUE.

Gal 6:10  As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

DOING GOOD IS ALSO INSTRUCTION IN GOD’S WORD.

   d.) To “Baptize” converts:

Mat 28:19  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

The Apostle Peter writes:

1Pe 3:21  The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

Peter says the water does not clean the flesh BUT THE DEATH AND RESURRECTION OF OUR LORD JESUS IS OUR ANSWER. Baptism represents the death, burial, and resurrection of Our Lord.

“YOU KNOW THAT GRAVE IS STILL EMPTY”.

   e.) To “ENCOURAGE” one another:

1Th 5:11  Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
1Th 5:12  And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
1Th 5:13  And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
1Th 5:14  Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
1Th 5:15  See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
1Th 5:16  Rejoice evermore.
1Th 5:17  Pray without ceasing.
1Th 5:18  In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
1Th 5:19  Quench not the Spirit.
1Th 5:20  Despise not prophesyings.
1Th 5:21  Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
1Th 5:22  Abstain from all appearance of evil.

Jesus Christ Our Lord is the “HEAD” of the Church. He wants His church in “one accord”.

Eph 4:15  But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
Eph 4:16  From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

f.) To “SHOW” the world the goodness of God:

1Pe 2:9  But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that [ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light]:

Jesus said to make His Church a GLORIOUS THING.

Eph 3:21  Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

Christ Jesus was transfigured before some of the apostles:

Mat 17:2  And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

When we are born again into the Church of the living God, He expects this same transfiguration from His children.

Php 2:15  That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
Php 2:16  Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

The very words of Our Lord.

Mat 5:16  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

g.) To HELP ONE ANOTHER in the time of NEED:

1Ti 5:16  If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.

The Church is expected to help those in need but this verse says we should help as individuals and not suffer the Church to try to do it all.

1Th 2:6  Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.
1Th 2:7  But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:

As individuals as a nurse to children.

These traits come with being “born again”.

Gal 5:22  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23  Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Again James writes:

Jas 3:17  But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
Jas 3:18  And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

h.) TO HOLD BACK “SIN” IN THIS PRESENT WORLD:

2Th 2:7  For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: [only he who now letteth will let], until he be taken out of the way.

The Evil of this world is held at bay by the Holy Spirit. Each individual that is a child of God is endowed with God’s Holy Spirit. When the Church is raptured out of this world, the Holy Spirit will go back to His function as in the Old Testament. SIN WILL RUN RAMPID AND THE ANTICHRIST WILL APPEAR.

2Th 2:8  [And then shall that Wicked be revealed], whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

IT IS THE JOB OF THE CHURCH TO HOLD BACK AS MUCH OF THIS EVIL AS WE CAN WHILE WE ARE HERE ON EARTH.

i.) TO LOVE THE LORD FERVENTLY:

Rev 2:4  Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

If we do not keep that love we had for Christ throughout our time on this earth, He will also have somewhat against each and every one of us.

Mat 24:12  And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

Jesus Christ said in the end times the love of many will wax cold. We can see that with our own eyes. Many so called churches do not even recognize Christ as the truth anymore but think there are other means and ways to Heaven. How soon we forget.

Rev 2:5  Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and [will remove thy candlestick out of his place], except thou repent.

Christ is not found in many places that at one time were mighty for the Lord.

GOD IS LOVE:

1Jn 4:6  We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
1Jn 4:7  Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
1Jn 4:8  He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
1Jn 4:9  In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
1Jn 4:10  Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1Jn 4:11  Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
1Jn 4:12  No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
1Jn 4:13  Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
1Jn 4:14  And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
1Jn 4:15  Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
1Jn 4:18  There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
1Jn 4:19  We love him, because he first loved us.
1Jn 4:20  If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
1Jn 4:21  And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

II.) THE “JUDGEMENT” OF THE CHURCH.

(We will give an account for what we have done since our salvation)

a.) How many souls we witness to and win over to God:

Pro 11:30  The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and [he that winneth souls is wise].

Does this mean that, he that does not win souls is unwise. I think so!

Daniel wrote:

Dan 12:3  And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and [they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever].

Matthew wrote the words of Jesus:

Mat 4:19  And he saith unto them, Follow me, and [I will make you fishers of men].

James wrote:

Jas 5:20  Let him know, that [he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death], and shall hide a multitude of sins.

John wrote:

Joh 4:36  And [he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal]: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.

Rewards come to those who serve.

b.) How we have used our “abilities”:

Mat 25:14  For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
Mat 25:15  And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
Mat 25:16  Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
Mat 25:17  And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
Mat 25:18  But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.
Mat 25:19  After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
Mat 25:20  And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
Mat 25:21  His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Mat 25:22  He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
Mat 25:23  His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Mat 25:24  Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
Mat 25:25  And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
Mat 25:26  His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
Mat 25:27  Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
Mat 25:28  Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
Mat 25:29  For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

WHAT IS YOUR TALENT?

HOW ARE YOU USING IT?

c.) How we treat other Christians:

Mat 10:41  He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.

The Bible says:

Luk 14:13  But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:
Luk 14:14  And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: [for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just].

This must be a willing and loving thing to do. From the heart.

1Co 9:17  For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me.

Let’s hold on to the things of God.

2Jn 1:8  Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

d.) How much we have suffered for Our Lord:

Mat 5:11  Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Mat 5:12  Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

God knows how we will suffer.

Isa 66:5  Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name’s sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: [but he shall appear to your joy], and they shall be ashamed.

Even in this be like Jesus:

1Pe 2:23  Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; [but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously]:

From the Old Testament to the New Testament: (we are not alone)

Rom 8:36  [As it is written], For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

That’s when people can see Jesus “in us”.

2Co 4:11  For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, [that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh].

Our Lord will never forget what happened:

Rev 2:3  And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name’s sake hast laboured, and [hast not fainted].

e.) How well we spend our time:

Col 4:5  Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.

LET EVERY MINUTE BE PRECIOUS IN OUR SERVICE TO OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST.

The Psalmist wrote:

Psa 90:12  So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

The Apostle Paul wrote:

Eph 5:15  See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
Eph 5:16  Redeeming the time, (because the days are evil).
Eph 5:17  Wherefore be ye not unwise, [but understanding what the will of the Lord is].

Again Paul:

Col 3:16  [Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom]; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

f.) How well we support our church:

Heb 10:25  [Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together], as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and [so much the more, as ye see the day approaching].

The tendancy of the modern day church is to go less often.

THE BIBLE STATES TO NOT FORSAKE THE ASSEMBLING OF THE CHURCH AND ACTUALLY MORE OFTEN AS WE SEE THE JUDGEMENT DAY APPROACHING.

Only the blind can say these are not the end times.

1Co 5:4  In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, [when ye are gathered together], and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Rom 13:11  And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
Rom 13:12  The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
Rom 13:13  Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

2Pe 3:14  Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

and to Pastors and Preachers:

Col 4:17  And say to Archippus, [Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfil it].

1Ti 4:16  [Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and (them that hear thee)].

These are just the minimum requirements. God loves to bless for added effort!

Amen

Jesus Christ and His Family Tree

“JESUS AND HIS FAMILY TREE”

TEXT:

Mat 1:1  The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
Mat 1:2  Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;
Mat 1:3  And [Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar]; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;
Mat 1:4  And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon;
Mat 1:5  And [Salmon begat Booz of Rachab]; and [Booz begat Obed of Ruth]; and Obed begat Jesse;
Mat 1:6  And Jesse begat David the king; and [David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias];

Mat 1:16  And Jacob begat [Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ].

INTRO:

As we read our Bibles when we come to the “BEGATS” we usually skip over them and move on with our reading. We can miss some valuable teaching when we do this. In this study we would miss the Doctrine of Salvation in typology and actual lessons in the Doctrine of Salvation. Jesus Christ is not of an earthly nature but He was born of the “Virgin” Mary in the earthly fashion. Because of this there are some shady characters in His family tree. We could find some of the same in our own family tree. Because of forgiveness God accepts the past as if it did not exist.

I.) Grandma Tamar:

[Mat 1:3  And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar];

The story in the Book of Genesis:

Gen 38:11  Then said Judah to Tamar his daughter in law, Remain a widow at thy father’s house, till Shelah my son be grown: for he said, Lest peradventure he die also, as his brethren did. And Tamar went and dwelt in her father’s house.
Gen 38:12  And in process of time the daughter of Shuah Judah’s wife died; and Judah was comforted, and went up unto his sheepshearers to Timnath, he and his friend Hirah the Adullamite.
Gen 38:13  And it was told Tamar, saying, Behold thy father in law goeth up to Timnath to shear his sheep.
Gen 38:14  And she put her widow’s garments off from her, and covered her with a vail, and wrapped herself, and sat in an open place, which is by the way to Timnath; for she saw that Shelah was grown, and she was not given unto him to wife.
Gen 38:15  When Judah saw her, he thought her to be an harlot; because she had covered her face.
Gen 38:16  And he turned unto her by the way, and said, Go to, I pray thee, let me come in unto thee; (for he knew not that she was his daughter in law.) And she said, What wilt thou give me, that thou mayest come in unto me?
Gen 38:17  And he said, I will send thee a kid from the flock. And she said, Wilt thou give me a pledge, till thou send it?
Gen 38:18  And he said, What pledge shall I give thee? And she said, Thy signet, and thy bracelets, and thy staff that is in thine hand. And he gave it her, and came in unto her, and she conceived by him.
Gen 38:19  And she arose, and went away, and laid by her vail from her, and put on the garments of her widowhood.

The Results:

Gen 38:27  And it came to pass in the time of her travail, that, behold, twins were in her womb.
Gen 38:28  And it came to pass, when she travailed, that the one put out his hand: and the midwife took and bound upon his hand a scarlet thread, saying, This came out first.
Gen 38:29  And it came to pass, as he drew back his hand, that, behold, his brother came out: and she said, How hast thou broken forth? this breach be upon thee: therefore his name was called Pharez.
Gen 38:30  And afterward came out his brother, that had the scarlet thread upon his hand: and his name was called Zarah.

We can see just how wicked this woman was. A “daughter in law” changed into a deceitful “harlot”. Judah said that even through all this that he was the one more deceitful.

a.) Tamar represents the DOCTRINE OF SIN.(In Typology)

b.) She “seduced” and “blackmailed” Judah her father in law.

Lev 18:15 says  Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy daughter in law: she is thy son’s wife; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

We know Judah was deceived though he was still wrong. Tamar knew that she was doing evil.

Lev 20:12 says  And if a man lie with his daughter in law, both of them shall surely be put to death: they have wrought confusion; their blood shall be upon them.

A sin worthy of death by God’s own words. But before we pass judgment!

The Bible says:

c.) Rom 3:23  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

d.) INSPITE OF THE FACT SHE WAS SO WICKED, SHE WAS STILL ALLOWED TO BE IN THE FAMILY OF GOD.

BECAUSE GOD NEVER CHANGES!

Mal 3:6 says  [For I am the LORD, I change not]; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

NOW THEN (I) ALSO CAN BECOME A MEMBER OF GOD’S FAMILY.(God never changes)

Rom 8:16  The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
Rom 8:17  And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

II.) Grandma Rahab:

Mat 1:5  And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab;

a.) Rahab represents the DOCTRINE OF FAITH.(In Typology)

Jos 2:1  And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot’s house, named Rahab, and lodged there.
Jos 2:2  And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, there came men in hither to night of the children of Israel to search out the country.
Jos 2:3  And the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men that are come to thee, which are entered into thine house: for they be come to search out all the country.
Jos 2:4  And the woman took the two men, and hid them, and said thus, There came men unto me, but I wist not whence they were:
Jos 2:5  And it came to pass about the time of shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out: whither the men went I wot not: pursue after them quickly; for ye shall overtake them.
Jos 2:6  But she had brought them up to the roof of the house, and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order upon the roof.
Jos 2:7  And the men pursued after them the way to Jordan unto the fords: and as soon as they which pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate.
Jos 2:8  And before they were laid down, she came up unto them upon the roof;
Jos 2:9  And she said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.
Jos 2:10  For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.
Jos 2:11  And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.
Jos 2:12  Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the LORD, since I have shewed you kindness, that ye will also shew kindness unto my father’s house, and give me a true token:
Jos 2:13  And that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.
Jos 2:14  And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the LORD hath given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.
Jos 2:15  Then she let them down by a cord through the window: for her house was upon the town wall, and she dwelt upon the wall.
Jos 2:16  And she said unto them, Get you to the mountain, lest the pursuers meet you; and hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers be returned: and afterward may ye go your way.
Jos 2:17  And the men said unto her, We will be blameless of this thine oath which thou hast made us swear.
Jos 2:18  Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt [bind this line of scarlet thread] in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father’s household, home unto thee.
Jos 2:19  And it shall be, that whosoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we will be guiltless: and whosoever shall be with thee in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand be upon him.
Jos 2:20  And if thou utter this our business, then we will be quit of thine oath which thou hast made us to swear.
Jos 2:21  And she said, According unto your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: and [she bound the scarlet line in the window].

Rahab came straight from the “Red Light District” into the family tree of Jesus Christ.

(Through the blood of Jesus)=The Scarlet line.

b.) Rahab had hid the spies and because she obey and bound the red cord(scarlet thread), she and her family would be protected and saved. DOES THIS NOT SOUND LIKE THE RED BLOOD OF JESUS THAT WE ARE WASHED IN.

Act 20:28 says  Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

c.) Rahab was changed from a (“Harlot” to a “Hero”).

Eph 2:12 says  That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
Eph 2:13  But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

d.) She was also allowed into the family of God BY FAITH.

Luk 7:50 says  And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

Eph 2:8 says  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9  Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Heb 11:31 says  By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.

Jas 2:25 says Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? (Rahab’s works came after she believed just as every child of God) She did not work  to get her faith.

III.) Grandma Ruth: (Book Of Ruth)

Mat 1:5  And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and [Booz begat Obed of Ruth]; and Obed begat Jesse;

a.) Ruth represents the DOCTRINE OF GRACE. (In Typology)

Rth 1:16 says  And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:
Rth 1:17  Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.

b.) She moved to Bethlehem(House of Bread) from Moab(The Trashcan).

Mic 5:2 says  But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
Mic 5:3  Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.

Joh 6:33 says  For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
Joh 6:34  Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
Joh 6:35  And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

c.) Boaz(Type of God) gave her everything she could ever want.

Eph 2:7 says  That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

d.) She went from poverty to riches because of God’s amazing “Grace”.

1Pe 2:3 says If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
1Pe 2:4  To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
1Pe 2:5  Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

{GRACE IS THE UNDESERVED FAVOR OF GOD}.

Eph 2:4 says  But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
Eph 2:5  Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
Eph 2:6  And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

By that same “Grace” am I saved! By that same “Grace” are we all saved that call upon Jesus!

IV.) Grandma Bathsheba:

Mat 1:6  And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king [begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;]

2Sa 11:3  And David sent and enquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?

2Sa 12:24  And David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the LORD loved him.

a.) Bathsheba represents the DOCTRINE OF FORGIVENESS.(In Typology)

b.) She conceived with King David while her husband was in the war.

2Sa 11:4 says  And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house.
2Sa 11:5  And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, I am with child.

c.) She became an honorable woman.

Pro 31:10 says  Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

d.) She is the perfect picture of forgiveness.

Act 5:30 says  The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.
Act 5:31  Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

Col 1:14 says  In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Eph 1:7 says  In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Mic 7:18 says  Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.

**********WE WOULD HAVE TO BE BLIND TO NOT SEE THAT EVEN IN THE “BEGATS” GOD HAS REVEALED TO US HIS MESSAGE OF SALVATION.

1.) We are all sinners! [Tamar]
2.) We must all have faith! [Rahab]
3.) Only through God’s “Grace” can we be saved! [Ruth]
4.) When we repent, we will be forgiven! [Bathsheba]

ONLY AN AWESOME GOD COULD HAVE PREPARED HIS WORD AND GIVEN US HIS WORD IN THE BIBLE. NO MAN COULD HAVE WRITTEN THE BIBLE.

V.) MOM: Mary the “Virgin” Mother of Jesus.

Other versions may say a young maid but the King James Bible says virgin.

The Prophesy of Isaiah:

Isa 7:14  Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a “virgin” shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Note: It would not be much of a sign if it was just some young maiden. Young maidens have children all the time.

The Prophesy of Moses:

Gen 3:15  And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and [her seed]; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

(A woman has no seed)

The Prophesy of Jeremiah:

Jer 31:22  How long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter? for the LORD hath created a new thing in the earth, [A woman shall compass a man].

Matthew verified:

Mat 1:21  And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Mat 1:22  Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
Mat 1:23  Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Luke verified:

Luk 1:35  And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

MARY THE MOTHER OF JESUS VERIFIED:

Luk 1:34  Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, [seeing I know not a man?]

THE BIBLE VERIFIES:

Mat 1:16  And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, [of whom was born Jesus], who is called Christ.

NOTICE THE BIBLE “DOES NOT” SAY JOSEPH BEGAT JESUS! NOR DOES THIS VERSE SAY HE WAS THE FATHER OF JESUS!

Joh 1:14 says  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

a.) THE VIRGIN MOTHER REPRESENTS THE DOCTRINE OF “CHRIST IN ME”. (In Typology)

Col 1:27  To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; [which is Christ in you], the hope of glory:

b.) She was used to bring God into the world in the flesh.

Rom 8:3 says  For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

Eph 2:15  Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; [for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace];

c.) Christ was literally formed inside of the Virgin Mary.

Luk 1:37 says  For with God nothing shall be impossible.

Luk 1:46 [And Mary said], My soul doth magnify the Lord,
Luk 1:47  And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
Luk 1:48  For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
Luk 1:49  For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.
Luk 1:50  And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.
Luk 1:51  He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
Luk 1:52  He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.
Luk 1:53  He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.
Luk 1:54  He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy;
Luk 1:55  As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.

d.) Christ lived inside Mary for nine months BUT HE LIVES IN ME FOREVER!

Luk 2:6  [And so it was], that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
Luk 2:7  And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
Luk 2:8  And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
Luk 2:9  And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
Luk 2:10  And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
Luk 2:11  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
Luk 2:12  And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

AND JESUS SAID:

Joh 14:16  And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may [abide with you for ever];
Joh 14:17  Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
Joh 14:18  I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
Joh 14:19  Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
Joh 14:20  At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and [I in you].

THE ENTIRE PLAN OF SALVATION, WRITTEN IN PERFECT ORDER WITH THE WOMEN WRITTEN IN THE BEGAT’S OF THE FAMILY TREE OF JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD.

How can we deny the truth of God’s Word?

Amen

The Ethnic Principle

The Ethnic Principle

Most people will say whoa, I thought the Bible was not about races. Well it’s not.
When we study God’s Word we need to obey certain rules. Now these are not my rules but actually God made these rules for us.
There are basically three groups of people written about in the Bible.

1.) The Jew
2.) The Gentile(basically anyone that was not a Jew)
3.) The Christian Church

God breaks down these groups Himself

1Co 10:32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:

A.) What then is the Ethnic Principle? Let the Bible tell us.

2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Rightly dividing the Word of truth to the Jew

Rightly dividing the Word of truth to the Gentile

Rightly dividing the Word of truth to the Church

B.) The number three(3) speaks of completeness:

1.) Three in the Godhead

Col 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

The Father
The Son
The Holy Ghost

2.) The three(3) places of God’s creation:

Rev 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

Heaven
Earth
Hell

3.) The three(3) groups of people

Jew
Gentile
Church

B.) Some explanation:

1.) The Old Testament is mainly about the Jews.
2.) The Judgments were on the Gentiles.
3.) The New Testament is mainly about the Church.

C.) The Origin of the three(3)

1.) The Jew:

Gen 11:31  And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram’s wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.

2.) The Gentiles:

Gen 10:5 By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.

3.) The Church:

Rom 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

D.) Let’s look at some facts concerning the Jew.

Rom 9:4 Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;

Rom 9:5 Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.

1.) The adoption: at first only the Israelites (Notice it is not Israelies)
2.) The “Shekinah”: Hebrew for
3.) The Covenants
4.) The Laws
5.) The service of God; Priesthood
6.) The promises: The prophecy of Jesus the Messiah
7.) The fathers: Abraham, Isaac, Jacob
8.) The Oracles

Rom 3:1 What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?
Rom 3:2 Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.

E.) Let’s look at some facts concerning the Church.

1.) The Church is the Body of Christ
2.) The Jew were a Nation but never referred to as the Body of Christ

It is God’s plan that all would come to Him. Everyone must make their own choice.

Joh 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

Our Greatest Battle

There Is A Battle Worse Than Armageddon

As we go through our Christian lives we will face daily battles. A Christian will miss Armageddon here on Earth but may be a part of it from God’s side so while we are on this Earth living in this flesh we will have our greatest battles. Our greatest battle is with Satan and he trying to control our minds. God tells us to wear our helmet of salvation all the time.

Eph 6:17  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

There is a reason the Apostle Paul used these words of armor. One he was inspired of the Holy Ghost and we needed to clearly understand our adversary.  Now every Born Again child of God has the indwelling of the Holy Ghost but Satan will still try to trick us.

An idle mind is the Devils workshop!

The Apostle Paul wrote again and we can see he also had the same problem.

Rom 7:23  But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

As long as we are still living in this flesh we will be attacked by Satan the Devil.

Our text:

Gen 3:1  Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Gen 3:2  And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
Gen 3:3  But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Gen 3:4  And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
Gen 3:5  For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Gen 3:6  And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Gen 3:7  And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
Gen 3:8  And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
Gen 3:9  And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
Gen 3:10  And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
Gen 3:11  And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
Gen 3:12  And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
Gen 3:13  And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
Gen 3:14  And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
Gen 3:15  And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
Gen 3:16  Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
Gen 3:17  And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
Gen 3:18  Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
Gen 3:19  In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
Gen 3:20  And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.
Gen 3:21  Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

1.) What was Satan’s target?

a.) The target was the mind of Eve.

“Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”

Satan says did God really tell you not to eat of every tree in the Garden. Satan has cast doubt on the Word of God.

b.) The target was the corruption of the mind of Eve.

Satan beguiled(misled) Eve with hidden cunningness and slyness.

2Co 11:3  But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

c.) The target was the twisting(perverting) of Eve’s mind.

2.) What was Satan’s tactic?

a.) Satan questioned the Word Of God.

He insinuated “did God really say that”

We need to understand that God says what He means and He means what He says every time.

The Bible says:

Mat 12:36  But I say unto you, [That every idle word] that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

An “idle word” is a useless word. God will not ever go against His Own Word. There are no useless words in the Bible.

b.) He denies God’s Word.

“Ye shall not surely die”

Satan called God a liar. There are way to many people in the world today that have fallen for the false teachings regarding the Bible. The Bible is the inspired Word of God. EVERY BLESSED WORD!

2Ti 3:16  [All] scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

What do we do with that word “all” in this scripture, throw it away?

Satan has gotten Eve on the hook and he begins to reel her in.

c.) Satan substitutes his own word.

“then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil”

It is so sad in our day there are so many versions of God’s Word and for the most part many of them are substituting their own words in place of what God said just as Satan did. If your Bible is not based on the original Hebrew and Greek manuscripts, I’d throw it away and get me one such as the King James Bible which is.

3.) Where was the Tempter in all this?

a.) He was hidden! Satan still hides so therefore there are many that deny his existance.

He is mention in the Bible. If you deny him then you must deny the entire Bible, which is what a lot of people do. These people will join this vile thing unless they repent and come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior.

Rev 12:9  And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Rev 12:10  And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

b.) Satan is a Horrible thing.

By his subtility he destroyed the Beauty of the Garden of Eden.

c.) Satan is homicidle!

Joh 10:10  The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

4.) What was the tragedy of all this?

a.) Eve fell into Satan’s trap. (She allowed Satan to get into her mind)

Mat 26:41  Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

b.) Now the entire world is caught up in this tragedy.

1Jn 2:16  For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
1Jn 2:17  And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

c.) We keep falling for Satan’s scheme.

(Satan has never had to change his tactics)

Joh 8:44  Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

5.) Then how do we triumph over Satan?

a.) There has to be a shedding of Blood!

God made coats of skins and clothed them. God would have had to shed the Blood of these animals to do this.

Heb 9:22  And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

Rom 5:9  Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

b.) The Covering of their sin!

(God clothed them, they had a robe of righteousness, they put on the Blood of Christ!)

Isa 61:10  I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.
Isa 61:11  For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.

Rom 3:22  Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

Amen!
