Jesus Christ Paid For Our Sin

Jesus Paid For Our Sins
Book of John Chapter 19:1-37

Last week we saw the Jesus Christ give himself over to a mob that had come to capture Him.

Jesus first faced Annas in an illegal court.

Jesus next was taken to Caiaphas the High Priest the son-in-law to Annas.

Today the Lord Jesus stands before Pilate.

Before we proceed let’s take a look at verse 11.

Joh 19:11 Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.

If we cannot see anything else, it should be obvious that those who become the rulers of men are all given that power from God Himself!

What we see in our world is that many if not most all rulers think they hold the power for good or power for evil, but the truth is their power comes by God Himself.

These rulers are responsible for the way they use this power.

These rulers are foolish to believe that they can overrule Jehovah God!

These rulers are foolish if they believe God will not hold them accountable for the bad things they do.

For those who do not understand the hatred for our President have forgotten what Jesus said.

All those who claim the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior will be hated by the world.

Joh_15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

Our President has put the Bible back in the White House, where it belongs!

Why has the nation of Israel had so many problems since the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple in 70AD?

Because it was the Jews who had rejected the Lord when He first came.

When Pilate symbolically washed his hands for the death of Jesus, these Jews made their biggest mistake of all their days.

Mat_27:25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.

When these things are said to the Lord there will be repercussions and the tiny nation of Israel has suffered since that day and this will continue until the Lord returns.

The rebirth of Israel and then Jerusalem means that God has not forgotten these He has made such great promises to.

Let’s begin with verse 13

*****Joh 19:13 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.

Gabbatha, the Pavement was a place on the Temple Mount outside the walls of the Praetorium which was the “Judgment Hall”.

This place was paved with stones and Pilate would sit in his judgment seat high above this pavement.

This pavement was a walk way of stones laid in a mosaic pattern outside of Antonio Fortress.

In fact Josephus mentioned that the entire Temple Mount was paved with this type of mosaic work.

Psa 94:20 Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?
Psa 94:21 They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.
Psa 94:22 But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.
Psa 94:23 And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off.

The main thing we will see about Pilate was that he was a coward who feared Caesar more than he feared Jehovah a mistake so many rulers make today. Afraid of the loss of power, which is given by God, rather than fear Jehovah God.

This is the way of the world.

These things took place on the day the Passover Lambs were slaughtered!

*****Joh 19:14 And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!

By the time we reach this point in the Book of John, Jesus has already been judged by Annas, Caiaphas, and what few of the Sanhedrin Court that good gather. All these had sentenced Jesus to death without any evidence of wrong doing, but they had to have the charge of insurrection for Jesus to be crucified.

This also the second time before Pilate, as Pilate had first sent Jesus to Herod.

We should understand that “preparation day” was the day that the Passover Lamb was killed, and the Passover meal was prepared!

This would be the day before Passover Day, whether it be the Sabbath, or a day treated as the Sabbath.

This sixth hour would be the noon hour though some would say it was 6 AM.

None of these things deserve any argument because they have nothing to do with salvation.

What we need to understand is that Jesus Christ was our Passover and we are washed in the Blood of the Lamb.

What we do know is that about 3 PM Jesus gave up His own life so that we can live for an eternity.

And before 6 PM Jesus was buried in a borrowed tomb!

The only way for Pilate to use Roman Law was that Jesus had claimed to be King of the Jews, which He had not done at this time.

Jesus was innocent of all charges brought against Him!

Mat 27:62 Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,
Mat 27:63 Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.

Mar 15:42 And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,

One of the things many people forget is on Passover the Blood of the Lamb was caught and that blood had to be applied to the doorpost of the place where they would eat the Passover meal.

Exo 12:7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.

If we consider the way that this blood was applied, it was in the shape of the cross.

It was not enough that the Passover Lamb be killed, and the blood captured in some vessel. The Blood of Christ must be applied to our lives as it was to those door post.

The cleansing power of the Lord comes only by “faith”

Exo 12:13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

The Jews of that day were blinded by their Jewish leaders who wanted only one thing and it was the death of Jesus Christ!

*****Joh 19:15 But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.
Joh 19:16 Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away.

These evil men were determined that they would settle for nothing less than the death of Jesus!

Act_2:23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

Israel did not need a king that day, they needed a Savior.

It is the same today, Israel does not need a king they still need a Savior.

They will get the opportunity to make that decision after the Church is removed and they see where they have been wrong, all these many years!

There is much difference in the Lord of Glory and that false lord of Rome!

Act 3:14 But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;
Act 3:15 And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.
Act 3:16 And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

The Jews who claimed Caesar as there king would soon see Caesar destroy their nation.

This is not much different as all those today who have chosen to make some idol their king.

Some choose the king of money, others choose the king of power, others the king of pleasure or the king of fashion.

There those who choose the king of drugs and the king of alcohol but in the end their king will destroy them all!

There is only one Savior, who is also the King of all Kings, the Lord of all Lords and He will not let another take His place!

Before Jesus will be King, He would first be the Prince of Life!

Jesus would carry His own wood to a place called Golgotha.

*****Joh 19:17 And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:
Joh 19:18 Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.

The physical body of Jesus was beaten beyond recognition.

Psa 22:13 They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.
Psa 22:14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.
Psa 22:15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.

Isa 52:14 As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:

When we sit at the foot of the cross on Calvary, we will see our Redeemer after he had been beaten, and crowned with thorns, and smitten, and scourged, and crucified, when his face was covered with bruises and with gore, and his frame and features distorted with agony.

This is our Savior who with the help of Simon of Cyrene made His way to Calvary, the place called Golgotha. Both of these words mean “Skull”.

This is the same Savior that Peter wrote about.

1Pe 2:19 For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
1Pe 2:20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
1Pe 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

One of these days soon, these Jews are going to open their eyes to the truth of Jesus Christ!

There were two more, one on each side that were also crucified on the day!

The Holy Spirit had made sure to prophesy of these things.

Isa_53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

When Jesus arrived at Golgotha even more pain was inflicted upon Him.

Psa 22:15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
Psa 22:16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.
Psa 22:17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.
Psa 22:18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.
Psa 22:19 But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me.
Psa 22:20 Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.

Again we see that the Holy Spirit had told of all these things!

And Pilate just added to the misery of that day.

*****Joh 19:19 And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Joh 19:20 This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin.

There should be very little doubt that this place of Golgotha was a place where many people would pass as they entered and left Jerusalem.

This capital punishment was used to each law breakers not to test the Roman government which was a cruel government.

Another proof is the fact that this title was written in 3 languages so any one who passed by or witnessed this event could know what it said, Jesus of Nazareth the King of the Jews.

In the flesh, He was Jesus of Nazareth.
In the flesh, He was the son of David, the true King of the Jews.

In reality He was God in the flesh, Emmanuel, the sovereign Lord of His entire creation, God!

The Hebrew language was the national language of Israel.
The Latin language was the official language of Rome.
The Greek language was the language most used in the world at that time.

The Jews were indifferent to these words. These words had no effect upon them. There was no remorse over an innocent man who truly was in the line of Kings from King David.

There were only a handful of Jews who knew the truth and none of them were certain at this time.

What is the truth?

Php 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Php 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
Php 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
Php 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

This is the most important thing that we need to know!

The only concern that the High Priest and his followers wanted was that Pilate change the wording to say that this was something that Jesus had said which would have been another lie.

*****Joh 19:21 Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews.
Joh 19:22 Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.

Jesus will never just be King of the Jews because He will always be King of this entire universe!

There has been many a Church, more today than ever, that have replaced King Jesus with some man.

The Catholic refuse to take the Lord off that cross and think they need some pope as a go between.

Jesus Christ is the Foundation and the Head of the Church, King of kings, and Lord of lords and the church needs to wake up to that fact instead of giving in to the world who will have many kings until they accept the Antichrist.

Jesus Christ has given us His Words and His Words will never change.

When we look at the throne in Heaven it is still the Lamb of God who sits upon that throne!

1Ti 6:13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
1Ti 6:14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
1Ti 6:15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
1Ti 6:16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

Even though all these things had happened, the world is never through taking away from the righteous!

*****Joh 19:23 Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.
Joh 19:24 They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.

Jesus Christ had come to die and at this moment it looked as if death would have her complete victory.

The world did its best to try to eliminate any knowledge of our Savior, but this world can only do what God allows!

The body of Jesus Christ was torn in pieces yet not one bone would be broken.

The flesh of Jesus would taste death, but it could not have come unless the Lord gave His own life, because this world will never be able to take it from Him.

The only things the Lord had in His personal possession was the clothes on His back and the world would even take these things away.

Soldiers gambled for His possessions!

Psa 22:18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

All His life Jesus had gone about doing good. He had never done one bad thing!

Yet at His death no one showed compassion.

The Mother of the Lord was standing as close as she was allowed to the cross of her Son, yet these soldiers did not care or even offer to her the things that Jesus had with Him!

Jesus had not yet given up the Ghost because there was one more thing He needed to do.

*****Joh 19:25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.
Joh 19:26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!
Joh 19:27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

No matter how Mary the mother of Jesus is treated by religionist, the fact remains that the Virgin Mary was the birth Mother of Jesus the God-Man Emmanuel, the Messiah, the Christ.

Isa 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel.

Jesus would not give up the ghost until He made sure His mother was taken care of.

We may ask ourselves, why John the Apostle, but history proves that John was the only apostle that died of old age.

John was the only choice because of this.

It is believed that Mary the Virgin mother of Christ is buried in Ephesus where John preached for so many years and Caesar did not make the many attempts on John’s life until after the death of Mary.

We could also say that John knew so much about the Lord Jesus because he learned those things from His mother!

Just before the pain and agony Jesus suffered in His body when He was ready to give up, He looked down at His mother and knew that she was suffering along with Him.

Mary was never to be an object of worship, but she was certainly a righteous young maiden when the Holy Spirit selected her to be the birth mother of the Messiah.

No matter where we see Jesus, we had better understand that He was always thinking of others much more than He thought upon Himself!

Anytime we are feeling uppity in this world we need to go back to the cross of the Lord Jesus and feel the love He has for us!

Isa 45:22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.
Isa 45:23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.
Isa 45:24 Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed.

Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

What did Abraham tell Isaac?

Gen 22:8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

God had certainly provided Himself as the Lamb who died for all His Creation!

It was after John knew he was to take care of the Mother of Jesus and Mary knew this also, that it was time for Jesus to give up the Ghost.

*****Joh 19:28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.

We should understand that there were many words that Jesus said just for the purpose of fulfilling prophesy.

Psa 69:21 They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

We should understand that at the site of a crucifixion there would always be a mixture of Gaul a natural growing pain reliever mixed with wine, which made this a drug.

It was given to those who were crucified to ease their pain.

This sounds great, but all it did was prolong their suffering.

To some this would seem to be a good thing but actually it would only prolong the agony of that one who was crucified.

When this was offered to Jesus, He rejected it.

Mar 15:23 And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not.

We should also understand that because the Roman soldiers traveled from one land to another and had to be ready at all times to be in defense of Rome, they would only drink water that contained the last product of fermented wine was is vinegar that has no alcoholic content, but it would make water safe to drink and also still provide a little nourishment from the grape.

In Vietnam we used iodine tablets if we had to drink the water in that land not water that had been treated by the Army.

This vinegar is what was offered to Jesus at the time He said, “I Thirst” and he did take this.

Jesus could be on twenty crosses and He would never drink anything that was of alcohol or any drug mixture that contained alcohol.

Jesus would never have gone against His word and He told us not to even look at true wine!

*****Joh 19:29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.
Joh 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

The Jews used hyssop somewhat like a paint brush.

For instance: Exo 12:22 And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.

If we go back and look at the first Passover, we will see why the Lord Jesus Christ was our Passover.

Psa 69:21 They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

We know vinegar is very bitter. The work Jesus had done for our salvation was finished.

This where we get that Phrase, “it leaves a bitter taste in your mouth”.

Jesus had been obedient to His Father.
Jesus had freely given Himself for us.
Jesus had been diligent in the work God the Father had given to His Son.

Whatever the law had demanded was perfectly paid.
Whatever each sinner needed was perfectly obtained.

It was perfect blood that flowed through the veins of Jesus.

Heb 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
Heb 10:13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
Heb 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

That perfect blood must be applied for our lives to be like Jesus!

*****Joh 19:31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
Joh 19:32 Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.
Joh 19:33 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:

These same men who insisted that an innocent man be murdered, could not think of letting His dead hang upon that cross on a Sabbath day.

What hypocrites!

Crucifixion is death by suffocation. There was a step near to where the feet were nailed to the cross and those upon the cross could support their weight in order that they could breath, which was also there to prolong their misery.

By breaking the legs they could no longer support themselves and they would soon die for lake of air.

Deu 21:22 And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree:
Deu 21:23 His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

Just so we know these were soldiers of the Roman Guard who had been in many battles they knew what death looked like and they knew how to cause such a death.

*****Joh 19:34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
Joh 19:35 And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
Joh 19:36 For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
Joh 19:37 And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

We can be sure that this soldier new that Jesus was already dead, or he would have just broken the legs of Jesus as had done to the other two.

We also know that he had heard the rumors that Jesus might rise from the dead.

If we look at the picture of Jesus on the cross, we know that a bunch of hyssop with a sponge could reach His lips.

This spear, a Roman battle sword would have pass under the rib cage directly into the lungs and then the heart of our Savior.

This was a death blow that no man could recover from.

This was intentional and done with malice. Just one more indignity inflicted upon the body of our Savior.

Of course Jesus knew these things would happen!

Isa_53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Rev_1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

Jesus came to die and there must be no doubt in our minds that He did die in that flesh.

If the flesh of Jesus had not died, then there would be no sacrifice for our sins, and we would still be guilty of our sins and that penalty would be the death of our being and a complete separation from God for an eternity.

The piercing of that sword through the lungs into the heart is undeniable proof that Jesus died, but of course God cannot die.

We must believe that Jesus died and then rose again from that death!

John makes sure that we understand that Jesus had given up the Ghost before this piercing occurred.

Jesus had already said that no man could take His life from Him only then could He take His life back up!

In typology we know that God had opened the side of Adam and had taken his bride Eve.

In the case of our Savior, the side of Jesus was opened so the Church, washed in the blood and purified with pure water, could begin its life.

Heb 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
Heb 10:20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
Heb 10:21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
Heb 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

1Jn 5:6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

John says if you want to know the truth, then this is the truth of Mount Calvary.

John along with others were an eyewitness to these events!

Not one bone of the Lord Jesus Christ was broken, according to the Scriptures just as Paul had written.

We should understand that after the Spirit of Christ had departed from His body, it was up to His Heavenly Father who was to take care of that body that was left behind!

The body of Jesus would see no corruption for those three days He had said He would be in that borrowed tomb!

John remembered the words of the Prophet Zechariah.

Zec 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

It was only after these things that Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus came to prepare the body of Jesus for his own tomb!

We know that when the Lord returns to this earth the entire world will see the Lord but even these who had brought the false trial and these who had damaged the body of Jesus, those who had driven the nails and even this soldier who had pierced the body of Jesus will stand before the Lord at the White Throne Judgment and they too will look upon Him!

Amen

Let’s Pray

The Word Became Flesh

The Word Became Flesh

Book of John 1:1-14

Some things we know about John the Apostle of Jesus Christ:

1) John was one of the very first disciples.
2) John was a fisherman along with his brother James.
3) John left everything he had behind to serve the Lord Jesus Christ.
4) John was called the “beloved disciple”.
5) John was the disciple that Jesus committed the care of His mother.
6) John was said by Paul to be one of the 3 pillars of the church. Paul considered James the brother of the Lord Jesus, Peter, and John to be the 3 pillars of the early church. We cannot dispute the Apostle Paul, but I believe he was also a pillar of the early church, at least for the Gentiles.
7) John was the only apostle that died of natural causes.

When John was old and feeble his only sermon was “Little children love one another”.

When asked why he would continue with this sermon he replied, “It is the Lord’s command”.

We sometimes forget that we are certainly commanded to love one another, and it is not a request, it is a command given to us by the Lord our Christ, our Messiah.

John shows throughout all his writings that the Old Testament prophecies of the Messiah find their fulfillment in the Lord Jesus Christ!

*****Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John states that “before”, there was even one thing created by God, God had a plan of salvation and this plan would be followed until the very end!

We know that all the Word of God has been brought to us by specific men chosen and tutored by the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit will always lead us to the Lord Jesus Christ.

John said the Old Testament is so full of words that describe the birth, the life, and the death of the Messiah, He could actually be called the Word!

It should be obvious that the Word was distinct from God, so we can see the beginning of our understanding of the Triune God.

The Godhead was clearly revealed in the Old Testament.

Psa 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

God the Deity and God the Shepherd in the flesh, are two parts of the Triune God. We know the Holy Spirit is the third!

The Messiah is to be a Shepherd and when we acknowledge this truth, the Lord who came in the flesh, is truly our Shepherd.

Our Shepherd existed before creation had begun!

The Book of John was certainly written to the lost and to the Jews but, until the Word of God came along, the Gentiles knew nothing of a Messiah.

The Messiah, God in the flesh, is the very center of Christianity and the Book of John will lead us to this truth.

The Jews saw words as not just a sound, but something alive and existing and John begins with this statement, the “Word was God” so the Jews could easily understand the truth of the Messiah.

We will see that God has given us much more than the Holy Scriptures, God has given us Himself in the flesh, the Lord Jesus Christ!

When we read the Word of God we can see the ultimate character of God and this same character was in Jesus Christ

The Lord Jesus Christ lived the words that were written of Him!

Jesus Christ was not created of God because He is God in the flesh, one third of the Holy Trinity!

Psa 90:1 Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.
Psa 90:2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

Since Jesus Christ is the God of the Bible, then we must clearly understand, “that sin is far more abominable in the sight of God”, than most of us see it to be.

We have made sin to just be bad behavior, but sin is an abomination in the eyes of the Lord!

Therefore the Scriptures teach us to hate sin, but we are never to hate the sinner.

We should understand that when God speaks, things happen and “we can be made new”, if we will listen to what God has to say and apply it to our lives!

Faith does not mean much unless it brings with it action!

*****Joh 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.

There are many times that God repeats Himself to show the importance in what He had just said.

God wants to point out to us the importance of His character as the Triune God, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Not three Gods but One God in three persons.

John wants us to clearly understand that the Word, the Messiah (Jesus Christ) and the Father in Heaven are one and the same person!

1Jn_5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

It must be clear to all the world that we have an “Amazing God” who loves us enough to make us His home until we can get to His heavenly home!

Most of this world see Jesus Christ only as some man and it is true that He took on the fashion of a man, but each believer sees Christ for who He is, the very substance of God in all His perfect being!

Php 2:4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
Php 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Php 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
Php 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
Php 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of all the Word of God and therefore self-existent and eternal, the Son of the “Living” God!

The Word is the way God chose to introduce Himself to mankind, His greatest creation. Why?

God knew that many would look at His creations and call them accidents that just happen to have happened. Even a fruitcake can see the that our world is in too much order to have happened by accident.

The Lord Jesus Christ is indeed God in visible action!

After all if Jesus Christ is then God then He would also be our Creator!

*****Joh 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

We should understand that all things, but God were created. Our world had to have a Creator and to believe otherwise is foolishness!

Verse one and two describe things the way they were before any act of creation took place!

We must all understand that “all things” were made of God and without God there would be no creation and we would not exist.

God created everything we see and that we cannot see in the first six days of our beginning because we know God rested on the seventh day.

Not because God was tired but because he had completed what He had set out to do!

There are no creations by man because if man makes anything then he must use something that God has already made.

If our Savior and our Creator creates anything new today, it would be that “Born Again” child of God that only He can make new!

The Word of God is a reality, it is truly the Word of God.

Col 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
Col 1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

The Lord Jesus Christ is the glue that binds this world together!

Jesus Christ’s greatest creation is life, the living things there is nothing on this earth made that is not teeming with life.

A man once wrote “the basic difference between man and beast is speech. Animals cannot speak to man as they speak to themselves”!

We should understand that this world belongs to God and He does with it “as He pleases”!

We should understand that God is not far off removed from His creation but is very near showing great concern for the welfare of His created beings.

We should also understand that the problems in this world do not come from God, but they come because of sin!

The answer to these problems cannot come from man because only Christ Jesus has the answer to all our problems.

God is all about life and life eternal.

*****Joh 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

We cannot know true life without the Lord Jesus Christ!

Jesus Christ led a life of perfection to show us that it is possible for us to yearn for perfection in our own lives!

From the beginning in the days of Adam, God has proved He wanted to be up close and personal with His creation.

The knowledge of Jesus Christ is to be our light in this world that belongs to Him.

Joh 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

1Jn 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
1Jn 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
1Jn 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

The message of God is really very simple. He says come let us walk together and I will be the light of your path!

*****Joh 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

We live in a dark world made darker by our own sin. When Satan was booted out of Heaven he came to this earth and he brought darkness with him!

Much of world wants to remain in darkness forever but God is not going to allow that to continue much longer.

Jesus Christ has shown us the way to escape this darkness because He has no darkness within Him!

2Co 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

When the Light of Christ shined on this world then darkness fled and Satan hides in his darkness because he does not want us to see the “nobody” that he is!

Turn on your light in a dark room and you will see darkness flee to hide until the light goes back off.

When we walk with the Lord we become a light ourselves and then we can shed that light on our families, our neighborhood and then our cities.

Mat_5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.

Without Jesus Christ there would be no life and then there would be no light.

It is Jesus Christ who gives us purpose.
It is Jesus Christ shows us the meaning of life.
It is Jesus Christ who shows us the significance of our life.

After John has made us aware and the understanding of the Triune God, He then begins to tell us about the life of our Savior, from a man(John) that spent much time with Him and loved Him while He was upon this earth and he will begin with the forerunner, John the Baptist.

Our life improves when we fall in love with Jesus the Messiah!

We are cautioned not to forget what we have just learned.

*****Joh 1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

The Old Testament will lead everyone to Jesus the Messiah, when we take the time to study the Scriptures as God commanded and it is these same Scriptures that tell us about a forerunner paving the way for our Master.

Mal 3:1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.

That man was John the Baptist.

There is also this Scripture in the Book of Isaiah:

Isa 40:3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Isa 40:4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
Isa 40:5 And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

Did the Lord need someone to go before Him, I don’t think so, but the Scriptures must be fulfilled according to the way God intended them?

There is a purpose for every Word, every dot, and every tittle, in God’s written Scriptures

There will be a complete fulfillment of the Word of God!

Mat_5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Jesus the Messiah was before the beginning of creation, John was just a man, called of God with a special calling.

This was a part of John’s sermon:

Joh 3:28 Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.
Joh 3:29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.
Joh 3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease.

John the Baptist as the forerunner of the Messiah, also had to live his life as close as he could to perfection!

Luk 1:15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb.

John was to bear witness of the truth of God.

*****Joh 1:7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

The Old Testament teaches that the Messiah was coming.

John the Baptist job was to tell the world that the Messiah was now here.

It is the Church’s job not only to a witness of the Gospel but to also tell the world that the Lord will return to fulfill all the Scriptures.

Rev 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
Rev 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
Rev 22:20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
Rev 22:21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

John the Baptist was the first ambassador for Jesus Christ!

2Co 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
2Co 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
2Co 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
2Co 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

It is sin not to look forward to the Second Coming of Christ!

It is sin, to ask Jesus into your heart and fail to repent!

It is all our job to be ambassadors for Jesus Christ and not just be pew sitters!

Our ministry is the ministry of reconciliation!

The same as John the Baptist.

John the Baptist did his job so well that many thought that he might be the Messiah.

*****Joh 1:8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
Joh 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

We can say the John the Baptist was the first Christian!

John’s purpose was to lead mankind to the Light of the Lord Jesus Christ!

Say what you will but these things are to be true of every Christian. (Forgive me Lord for my failure to be more like Christ)

John could have allowed the people to make him great, but he said:

Joh 1:27 He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe’s latchet I am not worthy to unloose.

A man once wrote that “at the point that we quit testifying for Jesus Christ we have chosen to betray Him”.

We are not that Light, we are sent to bear witness of the Light of the Lord!

It seems that this is the world we live in today.

All those sitting in the pews motionless and emotionless “are actually betraying the Lord”.

This is a hard saying but it is the truth!

Light reveals.

Light opens up the truth of darkness and reveals a brand-new world, a brand-new life!

Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

The truth is “Our Creator stepped out of Heaven and came down to spend some time with His creation”.

*****Joh 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
Joh 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

1) Our world is so dark that when the Lord came, people closed their eyes to the truth.

2) Christ Jesus came as a Jew in the line of King David and He was rejected by His own nation.

God cares deeply for His creation especially mankind!

God is actively working to help this world throw off the burden of sin.

God made man in his own trinity, the flesh, the spirit, and the soul.

It is an unforgiving sin to those who reject the Living God.

Gal 4:3 Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:
Gal 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
Gal 4:5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
Gal 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
Gal 4:7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

This world we live would rather recognize the works of Satan, so that the world does not have to change its evil ways!

*****Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Joh 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

What is the will of God?

2Pe_3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, “not willing that any should perish”, but that all should come to repentance.

God has done and continues to do all He can, (besides force) to persuade the world of the truth of Jesus Christ.

To reject these things is to bring damnation upon yourself!

The new birth is of God and God only!

Yes, we are washed in the blood of Jesus and are made clean, but it is not the blood that saves us in that sense!

It is only by the Mercy and the Grace of God through His Son Jesus Christ that we can be saved and be part of this New Birth!

This New Birth is not a natural birth it is a Spiritual Birth!

This New Birth is necessary to become a child of God!

This New Birth is a true experience!

This New Birth is a radical change in our lives that can only be brought about by the Love of God, and His power to save!

It is not our own flesh that brings us to salvation, it is Holy Ghost conviction.

There is no man on the face of this earth that has the power to make us a child of God!

It is only by God’s power that the new birth can take place and we are welcomed into the family of God!

We must understand it is also our Holy God who has broken the barrier of race! There are only believers and non-believers!

There is only one truth of those who reject the Lord Jesus Christ!

Joh 8:33 They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
Joh 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

Joh 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
Joh 8:37 I know that ye are Abraham’s seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.
Joh 8:38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.
Joh 8:39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of Abraham.
Joh 8:40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
Joh 8:41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
Joh 8:42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
Joh 8:43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
Joh 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Joh 8:45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.

What is the complete truth of our Savior, The Lord Jesus Christ, God the Son?

*****Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

The incarnation of Jesus Christ is a reality!

Those that believe in God:

Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Those that believe in God must also believe that Jesus Christ (the Messiah) is God in the flesh!

1Jn 2:21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
1Jn 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
1Jn 2:23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
1Jn 2:24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
1Jn 2:25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.

The flesh of mankind today is not what God created it to be!

Our flesh no longer exists in the image of God because of sin. The same sin that began with Adam! Disobedience.

Jesus Christ had to come in the flesh to give us that example of what God intended for us all.

1Co 15:47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.

Joh_15:22 If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin.

Jesus Christ became flesh to correct and then counteract the corruption of sin, which mankind did not understand until God revealed Himself in the Scriptures!

It is by the “Grace” of God that He took the time to give us the truth of His creation when He did not have to.

We are a foolish people if we ignore what God has to say!

It is the will of God that we should believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, so God’s “Grace” can come to its fulfillment and we can be saved.

There is no other way period, for anyone to be adopted into the family of God!

We must understand what God is saying!

If Spiritual life comes by receiving the truth of Jesus the Messiah, then there must be death in rejecting Him!

Amen

Let’s Pray!

Our Redeemer

The Redeemer Who Comes from Zion

Book of Isaiah Chapter 59

Today in this lesson before we get to the importance of our Redeemer, we will see how God describes our world.

The world believes that humanity is basically good and occasionally do bad things but this is far from the truth.

The truth is humanity is basically evil and on occasion some do good things!

If we go back to the Book of Genesis chapter 3 we will see not the origin of sin because the origin of sin was in Heaven. What we will see is a description of the entrance of sin into humanity.

Genesis chapter 3 gives us an historical event that took place!

Most all the world believe in an Adam and Eve, and they should, and the sin of disobedience against a Holy God was passed down through these two historical figures!

If Adam was not a real person who brought sin into humanity then there would be no need for Jesus to redeem humanity.

Therefore, this is the reason such a great attack on the Creation facts of the Book of Genesis!

So how are these things seen in the eyes of God?

First God will make some things very clear. There is no one that He cannot save and there is no prayer that He cannot hear if it comes from the heart of someone seeking Him!

Verse 1:

*****Isa 59:1 Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

God is also very clear about His salvation. If you are not saved from eternal separation then it is not because He has lost His ability to save. In other words, the fault is your own and not His!

Instead of running to God, the truth is this world flees from Him!

Repeatedly, we have seen where we can only be saved by “faith” in the work of the Lord Jesus Christ to purchase us from the slave market of sin!

The hand of God cannot be shortened because it is connected to the arm of God, which arm is the Lord Jesus Christ!

It is by sin and the rejection of the truth of God that humanity cannot be saved but God will still deal with everyone!

It is very important that we understand what sin is and then understand that we are sinners. We are not sinners because we sin, we sin because we are sinners, it is in our heritage passed down from generation to generation!

When we understand that we are sinners, it is only then we will realize we need a Redeemer, we need a Savior!

God did not just create us all and then move on somewhere else doing God things, God truly cares for each and every one of us!

Those who believe that God has just gotten too old to care for us or to care about us, do not understand that God cannot age and His Word will never change!

God would not have made Himself known to us if He did not want to share our lives with us but sin places a wall between us and our God!

*****Isa 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

It is sin that stands as a barrier between us and our Creator. The greater the sin the greater the barrier. Where sin sets in, guilt begins!

Sin caused a wall of separation between Him and Adam and sin still does the same today to all humanity!

Mic 3:4 Then shall they cry unto the LORD, but he will not hear them: he will even hide his face from them at that time, as they have behaved themselves ill in their doings.

Those who are wicked in this world do not even realize the dilemma they are in!
They have a problem that is disastrous and they believe they are safe in a dying world but that is far from being true!

When God’s “Grace” cannot reach us because of that wall between us, then we are faced with eternal separation and an eternal death of misery beyond our imagination!

There are many times when we have a need to reach for the help of Heaven but it will not come if we have sin in our lives that has not been forgiven, simply because we have not asked for forgiveness.

Psa 66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:

God looks into the heart to see the truth of each of us!

What is sin? Sin is any transgression of the law of God.

There are 613 laws in the Old Testament that the Jews had to follow and it was impossible for them to do this.

Most of this world think only of the Ten Commandments but even these cannot be kept by anyone!

The Lord Jesus simplified these laws so we all could understand what God was saying.

Mar 12:29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
Mar 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
Mar 12:31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

If we truly obeyed these two laws we would have no problem with sin but even these laws become impossible to do in this evil world!

God says there is just no natural affection for one another in our world!

The Jews had been separating themselves from the Lord for many years and we can see that has not changed for the biggest part of our world today.

When we say these things to the world we are accused of so many things, including being evil ourselves but we should remember it is not we that say these things, it is a Holy God and we are just passing along His message!

Then God gives a picture of what He is talking about.

*****Isa 59:3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.

We use our hands in almost everything we do but when God says they are covered with blood, God is talking about the murder of the innocent.

We could say that we are not murderers and all murderers certainly should be punished and they are certainly sinners but then do you support abortion which is the murder of innocent children.

If we stand against the truth of God, we are murderers just as if we committed the crime ourselves!

When we read the Scriptures, we can see that only a very few of God’s prophets lived to die of old age, they were murdered for preaching the Word of God which is all true.

Do you support the truth of the Scriptures?

Only the Apostle John died of old age of the 12 Apostles of the Lord, the rest were murdered for preaching the Words of Jesus, which we now call the “Gospel of Jesus Christ”.

Do you support the truth of the “Gospels”?

Do you realize that if God has laid it on your heart to witness to a certain person and we refuse and that person ends up in Hell, we have just become a murderer!

There is the sin of commission and there is the sin of omission.

Commission is knowingly committing sin and being disobedient to God.
Omission is failure to do what is required of us being disobedient to God.

It is a terrible thing that our hands are so bloody that even our fingers are defiled!

Defiled means, made dirty, polluted, soiled, corrupted, sinful!

To tell just one lie is impossible because that one lie will have to be defended by another and then many others.

To lie is an intentional violation of the truth and therefore an intentional violation of the Law of God and shows that you do not love the Lord with all your heart. To lie is to deceive and the great deceiver is Satan himself.

Perverseness is acting in opposition to what is proper and the Word of God has given us all the proper ways to act!

And God continues.

*****Isa 59:4 None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.

Justice is doing what the Word of God commands and those that reject the Word of God do not want to see true justice for God’s people. In fact, they are only interested in fulfilling their own desires for personal justice as they see it themselves!

These are the same people that call all good things bad, and all bad things good!

Justice is an attribute of God:

Psa 89:14 Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.

When we refuse to allow justice to move forward we are violating the intention of the Lord!

Divine justice is that side of Divine righteousness which exhibits fairness!

Job 36:17 But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee.

To serve the Lord, who will never do wrong, is to follow in His example!

Gen 18:25 That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?

Those that try to satisfy their own justice are only searching for vain glory of themselves. We can put many politicians in this category today. They forget they were chosen to serve the people and serve their own vain glory!

They speak lies, they conceive mischief, and they bring forth iniquity (sin) and they are proud of themselves for what they have accomplished which is vanity (nothingness)!

We have a government full of freeloaders, who do nothing but hinder the truth and expect to be paid for it and even more expect to live off that nothingness the rest of their lives. Wake up America!

What else does God say?

*****Isa 59:5 They hatch cockatrice’ eggs, and weave the spider’s web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper.
Isa 59:6 Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands.

Many believe that the “cockatrice” to be the horned viper which is very poisonous but only about a foot long. To me this is a picture of the devil!

The Word of God says that those who get to see the antichrist will be amazed at his nothingness!

Jesus said all those who twist the Word of God into something that is no longer true are all the true vipers!

Mat 23:33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
Mat 23:34 Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:
Mat 23:35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
Mat 23:36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

Those whose actions are to plot evil and mischief and cause methods to trap the innocent are the most terrible of all. They are poisonous and they spread their poison as far as they can get away with and even when it seems they are crushed that viper is still dangerous!

We all know that you cannot make garments from the spider’s web. The spiders web is intended to be a trap for some innocent passerby!

These false doctrines put forth by these deceivers serve no purpose except deception! Also, their attempt to disguise their sin is easily seen through if we will just look at their actions.

Mat_7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Mat_7:19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Their works are all of sin and the power to violence is in their hands unless they are stopped!

*****Isa 59:7 Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.

It’s sad but there some people who dream about being evil and when they wake up they go about performing what they dreamed about, in fact they rush to perform it. They are so full of mischief they cannot help themselves!

Most everything they accomplish causes harm to innocent people some things even causing the death of some totally innocent person. These people even claim to take delight and pleasure in the things that they do.

A good example of these things will happen on the upcoming day of celebrating our National Freedom Day. Many will begin their day with the intent of overdoing alcohol and in the end, many innocents will be injured or die and there are many other examples of these who run to do evil.

Their thoughts are thoughts of sin and it shows in their conduct and their actions with no regard for others! They have made them own selves’ gods!

They show no concern for wasting their own lives and destroying the lives of others and when one day ends another will begin with the same actions and the same results.

Pro 15:26 The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD: but the words of the pure are pleasant words.

Rom 3:16 Destruction and misery are in their ways:

Therefore, they never know peace!

*****Isa 59:8 The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.

They will never know peace because they have no desire for peace and in fact peace can only come to those who do things the right way. The right way is according to the Word of God!

Isa 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

The way to eternal life is straight and all those who choose their own path are traveling a “crooked path”!

Mat_7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

They cannot see the light of Jesus, for the darkness of this world!

Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

In fact, they really do not know how to escape from this dark world! (Therefore, this is our job to show them, that there is a way)

*****Isa 59:9 Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness.

The truth is, God will never deliver any of these without a complete change of their mind and their actions and they know it.
God has already passed “judgment” on all those who reject the Lord Jesus Christ!

Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

If they have a sinless thought God will think nothing of it!
God will not revenge their wrong because they are already sentenced to death an, eternal separation from our Holy God!
God will not even punish their enemies who are just as guilty in sin!

God will never take vengeance for what one sinner does to another sinner! (Wake up sinner)

God will not take vengeance for what one evil nation does to another evil nation but God will provide for those who love Him in any case, understanding that God may just select to take many home to be with Him.

Some would call them martyrs but God just calls it “Come On Home” my child.

Psa_116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.

Those that reject the Lord may look for a brighter day but they will only remain in darkness!

A sinner can truly come to only one conclusion, “all the world is just as sinful as they are”.

Just ask one and you will see!

Either they will recognize that what they do is not really sin at all but simply the freedom to be their own god or they will say that they are no different from the rest of the world. They most all have a desire to take what they wish especially from those who are innocent and those that try to do good!

God says: 2Ti_3:13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

They grope around as blind people in a blind world.

What does God say for the believer to do?

Mat_15:14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

*****Isa 59:10 We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes: we stumble at noonday as in the night; we are in desolate places as dead men.

Notice these who love sin are aware that they are in darkness and in a pathetic sort of way, they are looking for their own lighted pathway that simply does not exist!

They have some vague sense of what “Brightness” is, comparing it to the noon day Sun but they are just as “dark” as if they were at midnight!

From verse one, we know they know that God has the ability to save them but they are like Judas and they cannot find it in their heart to repent!

These people want to be saved, but they just love their sin too much to give it up! “And So, Goes Our World Of Today”

Pro 4:18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
Pro 4:19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

When we seek for the Lord in places that do not know the Lord enough to obey the Word of God, then He will not and cannot be found!

*****Isa 59:11 We roar all like bears, and mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far off from us.

Since only trained bears actually roar, bears do have different modes of making noises and they usually get alone to do these noises.

Likewise, the dove when it has lost its mate, will get alone and mourn by itself.

This is the state of many who would love to be saved when they are alone but as the dove they refuse to give up their mate (sin) and like the bear they do not care for those who would take away their freedom to sin!

They look for salvation to come to them without having to give up their sinful behavior but this will never happen and as time passes eventually they will become very angry at those who claim freedom from the wages of sin!

Many people think to repent is to say, “I’m sorry” and even though this is a small part of it, true repentance is walking away from that old life with no regrets!

Psa 119:155 Salvation is far from the wicked: for they seek not thy statutes.

We already know that God keeps a written record of our sin and upon repentance that record is blotted out but for those who do not that record just accumulates.

Psa_51:1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

God is always ready to show His mercy and God has already taken the first step by the substitution of the Lord Jesus Christ in payment for our sins but we must take the next step and that next step is a leap of faith.

*****Isa 59:12 For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them;
Isa 59:13 In transgressing and lying against the LORD, and departing away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.

Before God will hear us, we must confess our sins!
Our sins testify against us!
Our sins rise up against us as our witness to this world!

When we openly confess our sins to the Lord, it makes us aware of just how sinful we are!

When we repeat a sin, and then confess it, we will then feel the shame of repeating any sin.

Our sin will constantly haunt us all our days! It would be a whole lot better if we do not wait to be so old to confess our sin to the Lord.

The Lord will forgive and forget but we on the other hand will still find it hard to forgive ourselves, once we know the Lord!

It takes a close personal relationship with the Lord to clear a guilty conscience!

Sin is a rebellion against the Word of God and His Son!

Israel had professed to be the followers of God but the sin of rebellion was their greatest sin.

Rebellion is denying the Word of God as the truth!

We cannot claim to know the Lord and reject what He says!

Jesus said: Luk_6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

The more we deny the Lord in our hearts but still confess Him with our mouth, the dirtier we become!

Mat 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
Mat 12:35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
Mat 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
Mat 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

God will never deliver such a people!

*****Isa 59:14 And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.
Isa 59:15 Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.

How can there be a better statement of America today than “truth has fallen in the street”.

We live in a land of perverted justice, where the guilty have more rights than the innocent and because riches can be made from this, it is allowed!

Shame on us as a nation to allow these things.
Shame on juries that allow this to keep happening in the name of justice!

Justice can only happen when the truth succeeds!

Justice stands so far off today it cannot hear those who make an appeal for justice!

False witnesses prevail over the truth and true witnesses are not allowed to testify or even be called!

Equity, which is true justice, is not even allowed into the court room because it would go against the ideals of an evil society.
Justice must remain outside the courtroom!

What a shame. Oh, did I write these things, no Isaiah was told by the Holy Spirit to tell us all about this world we live in today!

Psa 82:2 How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.
Psa 82:3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.
Psa 82:4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.
Psa 82:5 They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.

Truth cannot fail, it can only be ignored!

When we are “Born Again” into the family of God and repent from our evil ways, we then make ourselves the prey of this evil society!

Truth that should be the social fabric of every society and ground work of morality is tossed aside. This is the worst thing that can happen to any people and to any nation!
Here we are today in a society that has become blind, abiding in darkness. The church has been quiet or in more cases have accepted this as our future just to keep the doors open.

The Word of God has become an old relic of little use!

The true church must raise up its voice and at least go down fighting!
God says we are on the winning side, so in a Godly and Holy way, why do we not prove this to be the truth!

Once we allow falsehood to take the place of the truth, then lying cannot be discredited and moral goodness and moral law will become non-existent!

This world we live in has forgotten that we have a God who has His eyes on everything that goes on in this world!

The real truth is, that those that trust the truth of God do not live in a hopeless world, in fact this world is not even our home!

When God saw these things in the past He sent us a Savior and this same Savior will return to gather those He has already Redeemed and take them own Home in just a short time!

*****Isa 59:16 And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.

These Scriptures tell a story of mankind that should cause us great shame but more than that great concern.

Why as a human race do we not defend those who are being mistreated?
Where has the love for one another gone?
Why is it that certain groups with very big mouths think that they have rights that no one else does?
Why do we not defend good and condemn evil as it should be?

I believe our Holy God “was and is” certainly disappointed in His creation!
God gave the human race the knowledge and wisdom to overcome the obstacles of evil in this world and most of this world has just joined in to absorb more evil and less good!

Since there was no one who would stand in behalf of the “truth” and in behalf of “right” over wrong, God took drastic measures to save those who would have “faith”!

Eze 22:30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

Have you been a boss with skilled men under you and requested for something to be done and that thing that was done did not meet your standards of quality and you decide you would have to do this thing yourself to get it right?

Then think about what God is saying here!

That “therefore” means because this thing called “salvation” could not be done right by anyone on this earth, God decided He would have to do this thing Himself!

Why is this thing so hard to understand?

The only skills available to overcome sin are the attributes of the Eternal Living God, Jehovah!

Our God then became our Savior!

Why is this so hard to understand?

Not one human could pay the price for sin, even for their own sin without eternal death, much less for the sin of this entire world so Jehovah God had to be the Intercessor.

For this reason, the “LORD” stepped into this world to save His own creation, the entire human race!

Why is this so hard to understand and accept as the truth?

The arm of the LORD is the Lord Jesus Christ!
Not just some Messenger, not just some Prophet, but our Savior!

Why are these things so hard to understand when God says them over and over again!

Psa 98:1 O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.
Psa 98:2 The LORD hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.

This world we live in is always seeking some champion!
Some find him in sports, some find him in politics, some find in in so-called religion, some find him in philosophy but God looked at the champions of the world and not one stood for those who are oppressed and slaves to sin!

There was no one on this earth that stood for “righteousness” which just means doing all things right and the right way is according to the Word of God!

God came to make things right!

*****Isa 59:17 For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloke.

What is the nature of our God? “Righteousness”

If you miss this then you are wrong, we are in a war for our salvation!

We will lose that war without the Lord Jesus Christ!

In church, we sing about our “victory in Jesus” and many have forgotten the truth of that song!

There is no victory without Christ Jesus!

If the Lord Jesus Christ is my “righteousness” then it stands to reason that without Him I have no righteousness at all!

Rom 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Rom 3:11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
Rom 3:12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

We also see that “righteousness” also includes “vengeance”.

Much of the religious world have decided what a loving God will do and will not do, while ignoring what Jehovah has said He will do!

If our Loving God found that there could be no human Intercessor and He had decided that He must leave the portals of Heaven and become that Intercessor for the human race then certainly He would be angry at those who rejected His actions to save us all and why would we expect Him not to be?

Php 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Php 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
Php 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
Php 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

If you had done such a thing for your own family, you would certainly be angry if your actions were rejected!

We call all believers the “church”, “Bride of Christ” and these things are certainly true, so then why would we not expect God not to be angry enough to be vengeful to all unbelievers?

In fact, this Scripture says the Lord will wear “zeal” as a cloke.
Our Savior will have a great zeal for salvation!
Our Savior will also have a great zeal of anger for all those who reject Him and His salvation plan!

Zeal is a great eagerness and a great desire to accomplish these things He came to do!

The Lord first came to save!
The Lord will next come for vengeance!

The breast plate of righteousness because He will do “all” things right!
The helmet of salvation because no evil thoughts are His intention!
The garments of vengeance are to are the tools of His arsenal.
The cloke of zeal is His love for the believer combined with His displeasure for who reject Him.

How does God expect each believer to dress?

Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Eph 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Eph 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Eph 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Eph 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Most of this world still does not realize that we are in a war and it is much better to be on the side of the Lord because this is the winning side!

God says we will certainly reap what we sow!

*****Isa 59:18 According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompence to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompence.

It should be obvious that those who reject the work of the Lord Jesus Christ for our salvation, will see the “Judgment” of God!

An old saying from my past was “they don’t believe cow horns toot”!

When God is ready, He will execute a “just” retribution to all those who reject His message!

God is perfect in “Righteousness” and God is perfect in “Judgment”, because “perfection” is also an attribute of Jehovah God!

Mat 16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

Who are the adversaries of God? These are those who claim to know the Lord as their personal Savior but, serve their own selves and actually hinder the truth of God.

Who are the enemies of God of God? These are those who serve in false religions.

Those “islands” are all those who have made themselves to be God, in many cases we say Atheist but this goes beyond these to all others.

1Pe_4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

The truth is we will certainly reap what we have sown, all people will be repaid exactly what is due them and we already know that the wages of sin is “death” eternally separated from the Living God!

There will be great fear in the “Day of the Lord”!

*****Isa 59:19 So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.

Our enemy is called by different names. The serpent, the devil, Satan, the roaring lion, the deceiver and there are other names.
Some say he has great power but his power is limited! He is a crafty deceiver who refuses to make himself known. He has obtained many followers many of those unknowingly. He is the force behind the principalities and powers that rule this sinful world for riches and power that they hold over the head of the poor and they plan to keep it this way in defiance of the Lord.

Think back to the tower of Babel and we can see our world has not changed at all since that time!

Gen 11:3 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.
Gen 11:4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

These people will be much more than confused when the Lord returns!

When this enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him!

Once we understand the truth of God and submit to the Lord Jesus Christ and are saved by the “Grace” of God, we have a new owner and the Holy Spirit takes up a permanent residence with us.

Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Eph 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

It is only by the power of the Triune God that we can resist the Devil!

2Co 1:21 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;
2Co 1:22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

We not only proudly wear the seal of our Savior upon or soul but that same sealing does not allow Satan to ever possess us again!

The seal of the Holy Spirit says that we belong to Jehovah God! We have a new owner who is much more powerful than Satan and his followers!

It is the Holy Spirit who plants the Standard of God upon our soul and that Standard is the Lord Jesus Christ!

He is much stronger than our enemies!
He is much wiser than our enemies!
He is much closer to us than our enemies can ever get!

The soul cannot live in the devil but the soul has life by the Holy Spirit!
The soul can live without the devil but soul cannot live without the Holy Spirit.

When the heavens depart as a scroll and the Lord appears, all His enemies fill have a true and sincere fear of the Lord that will overwhelm them all!

Rev 6:14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
Rev 6:15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
Rev 6:16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
Rev 6:17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

Our Lord has made promises and all of them will be fulfilled!

*****Isa 59:20 And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD.
Isa 59:21 As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.

Our Redeemer, the One who purchased us with His own blood out of the slave market of sin and set us free from sin’s bondage after He has removed us before His wrath shall come to Zion and bring us with Him.

Rev 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
Rev 19:12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
Rev 19:13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
Rev 19:14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

Isaiah knew all these things because it was the same Holy Spirit who fills each believer that gave Him these words!

The truth and the promise of God is, once we are filled with the Holy Spirit who will teach us the Word of God, then these things can never depart from us and since the Holy Spirit cannot die, neither can the soul of each believer!

Each and every adopted child of God will enter into the Kingdom of the Messiah and experience the glory of the Lord in the presence of God!

These Scriptures shows us the promises our Father made to our Redeemer.

This promise is for the Redeemed of Jacob!

Gal 3:9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

This promise is for the Church!

Gal 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
Gal 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

What did Jesus say to His Father?

Joh 17:8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.

When we have received the Word of God and we have recognized the truth of God and have believed, then we can understand the promises that God has made with the knowledge that God has never broken a promise He has ever made!

Amen!

Jesus Christ Our Redeemer

Jesus Christ—Our Redeemer

“But By His Own Blood”

Book of Hebrews Chapter 9

The word “Redemption” comes from several Greek terms that mean “to set free by the payment of a price”.

One of those Greek words is “agorazo” and it means “to purchase in the market place”. It was associated with slaves in the market place in Bible times.

Redemption in the Bible means that through His death, Jesus Christ has set every believer “whosoever they are”, free from their enslavement to sin!

Every believer has been purchased out of the slave market of sin and set free from sin’s bondage!

1Co 7:23  Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.

1Co 6:20  For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Every believer should now  be a slave to do God’s Will!

There is another Greek word that relates to our redemption. It is “exagorazo”. This word means that every believer has been redeemed from the curse and bondage of the law that can only condemn and not save!

Gal 3:13  Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
Gal 3:14  That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

AND,There is another Greek word that explains redemption. That word is “lutroo”. This word means “to obtain release by the payment of a price. In other words a “ransom”.

Every believer has been redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus:

1Pe 1:18  Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
1Pe 1:19  But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

Every believer is then a special possession for God!

Tit 2:14  Who gave himself for us, [that he might redeem us from all iniquity], and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

That great “Redeemer” is Jesus Christ, The “Only Begotten” Son of God.

*****Our Text

Heb 9:11  But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

Our lesson begins with verse 11 because the theme of our lesson is the “Redeemer”. In the first ten verses of this chapter in Hebrews proves that Our Redeemer ministers in a superior sanctuary.

1.) In contrast the Levite priest ministered in an earthly sanctuary, in other words it was made by man’s hands. It was always in need of repair and it could only be in one place at a time.

2.) This earthly tabernacle contained things that were only “patterns of the things in Heaven”. It can be said that many spiritual truths were wrapped up in these instruments of the first Tabernacle. They certainly were designed as “types” of the ministry of Jesus Christ.

3.) We know of the Holy of Holies, and this place had no access to people. Only the High Priest could enter and He only once each year.

4.) We know this earthly Tabernacle was only temporary. It was a tent with a veil covering the entrance.
Even when the Temple was built there was this veil that covered the opening into the Holy of Holies but our Redeemer purchased us access to the true Holy of Holies.

Mat 27:50  Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
Mat 27:51  And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

5.) We know that in this earthly tabernacle, sacrifices that were made were only ceremonial. They were “carnal” ordinances that were for the outer man but they could never change what was in man’s heart. They could not change the inner man. No one was “reborn” or what Jesus said, to be “Born Again” because of what they did in this Tabernacle.

We will now see how much more superior the Heavenly things are!

It is a fact that no one in the Old Testament was saved by keeping those old laws!
It is also a fact that no one in the Old Testament was saved by animal sacrifices!

The Bible is specific:

Gal 3:24  Wherefore [the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ], that we might be justified by faith.
Gal 3:25  But after that faith is come, [we are no longer under a schoolmaster].

All things good have come to pass by Our Lord Jesus Christ!

We need to pay special attention to the Heavenly ministry of Jesus in these last days.

There is a real Heaven!

We have a real High Priest in Heaven!

AND, We can have true Spiritual Worship in every house called by His name [but only because] Our Redeemer paid the price for our “redemption”!

The New Covenant sanctuary was not made by the hands of man.

You know, we call our places of worship the House of God but we know He does not live there.

But we sure do hope He comes to visit us as we worship Him and He does!

“Not of this building” means not of this earthly creation!

We can spend God’s money to try to make our places of worship beautiful and more pleasant to the eye but this only speaks to our flesh and it only ministers to the physical side of us.

We should maintain the buildings we have and grow as the need requires, and take care of our Pastor and others that are needed, but we need to concentrate God’s money on furthering the Gospel to as many as we can!

*****Heb 9:12  Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but [by his own blood] he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

We are called a bloody religion because we are a bloody religion.

It is by the blood of our “Redeemer” that we are saved!

So, What is at the heart of the Gospel story?

What command does God give every Pastor, Preacher, and Evangelist and every soul that is saved?

Act 20:28  Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, [to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood].

This the message to every “house of God”!

Without this message there can be no church!

Where does our “redemption” come from?

Eph 1:7  In whom we have redemption [through his blood], (the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;)

How were we redeemed?

1Pe 1:18  Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
1Pe 1:19  [But with the precious blood of Christ], as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

How are we cleansed from sin? How has He made us kings and priest?

Rev 1:5  And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, [and washed us from our sins in his own blood,]
Rev 1:6  And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Who can be saved by the blood of Jesus?

Rev 5:9  And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, [and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation];

In the Old Testament sin was only atoned! Sin was only appeased!

And that only a year at a time.

In took the red, sinless, pure blood of Jesus to redeem those that are lost!

There is a great big difference between atonement and redemption!

Atonement was yearly in the Old Testament.

Redemption is Eternal, through the “Blood of Jesus”!

Rom 8:1  There is therefore now [no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus], who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Rom 8:2  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath [made me free] from the law of sin and death.

*****Heb 9:13  For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
Heb 9:14  How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Not one of these Old Testament rituals could change what is in a person’s heart.

They knew they could come back each year to have their sin atoned for.

This does not mean they could not trust God. His Word was just as true then as it is now!

Every one that obeyed the Word of God was truly declared clean!

These rituals offered purification for the flesh but there was no cleaning of the conscience!

To be “Born Again” in Christ Jesus, is to have a conscience that is purged from dead works!

We should serve God knowing that we have full assurance that our names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

We are saved and justified by the work of Our Savior upon Calvary’s Mountain.

Redeemed by His Blood!

We have not arrived to our Christian life until we recognize that Our Redeemer has absolutely and eternally, forgiven and cleansed us of sin!

If your conscience is cleansed of guilt you will realize that you could not have been cleansed by “dead works”

Anything that we could do to try to earn our salvation would be a dead work!

Good works are not as cause of salvation[but a result of salvation]!

*****Heb 9:15  [And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament,] that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

Many ask, Why did the Lord Jesus have to die?

We have our answer in this verse!

Jesus Christ had to die in order to begin a New Covenant!

The Old Covenant could not provide “eternal redemption” and God had to make some arrangement for sin!

This arrangement had to include [all sin past and future] to include those under the Old Covenant!

This verse makes it perfectly clear that there was no final or complete redemption in the Old Testament.

It was the sacrifice of Jesus, on that cross that brought spiritual cleansing:

Rom 3:24  Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Rom 3:25  Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

Because Christ Jesus has provided such an eternal redemption, we can now share in an eternal inheritance!

*****Verses 16-21 are not part of our lesson today.

BUT, We know we are redeemed by the Blood of Jesus Christ.

This is a Blood Covenant! Since the word inheritance was used in verse 15, the Holy Ghost points out that this New Covenant is also somewhat like the “last will” of a dying man.

An inheritance in most cases cannot be received without a “Will”. In the case of a “Will” a death must occur! The death of the one who makes that “Will”!

It “was not” the death of Christ Jesus, that made Him out Mediator!

It “was” the death of Christ Jesus that gives us our inheritance and our “salvation”.

Jesus Christ had to die before Our Inheritance could be received!

It is not the “Will” that is ratified by His Blood!

It is the “New Covenant” that was ratified by His Blood!

The death of Jesus made God’s New Covenant to be valid!

There could be no atonement without His death!

After His death, then Blood then became the token that made this New Covenant valid!

Had Jesus not died on Mount Calvary there would be no hope of eternal life!

There would have been no hope for forgiveness!

But because He died, {“whosoever” will accept Him} can be saved!

These things take us up to our next verse.

*****Heb 9:22  And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

It seems the world will never understand that there is no way to go to Heaven except by and because the Lord Jesus faithfully died on Golgotha.

Had He not died there could be “No Hope” of “Redemption”!

Mankind could have never been reconciled to God if Christ Jesus had not died!

Rom 5:10  For if, when we were enemies, [we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son], much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
Rom 5:11  And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

To be “Reconciled” means God can provide peace in place of being an enemy.

To be “Reconciled” means we can have fellowship with our “Creator”!

2Co 5:18  And all things are of God, [who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ] and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
2Co 5:19  To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

*****Heb 9:23  It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

First we must not ever believe that Jesus died and shed His blood to purify anything in God’s Heaven!

Heaven can never be defiled!

BUT, Before we can enjoy the beauty of Heaven, there are certain requirements that have to be met.

The Old Covenant was established by blood and so was the New Covenant!

BUT, The New Covenant was established by a better sacrifice, and applied in a better place!

The Blood of Jesus is much more costly than any animal in God’s creation!

*****Heb 9:24  For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

We would be foolish to trust our salvation and our spiritual life to anything on this Earth that is made by the hands of man!

This verse plainly states that it is Heaven itself that is the “True Sanctuary”!

This is where Our Lord Jesus Christ is located as our Mediator.

He is face to face with our Father who is in Heaven!

Rom 8:34  Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

*****Heb 9:25  Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;
Heb 9:26  For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

To compare the Old Covenant to the New Covenant:

1.) The Old Covenant had repeated sacrifices.

The New Covenant only had one sacrifice, Our Lord.

2.) The Old Covenant used the blood of others(animals)

The New Covenant, Our Lord used His Own Blood.

3.) The Old Covenant, sin was just covered for one year.

The New Covenant, Sin has been put away forever.

4.) The Old Covenant was for Israel only.

The New Covenant is for “whosoever will believe”.

5.) The Old Covenant had the Holy of Holies.

The New Covenant, Christ entered Heaven itself and remains there at this time.

6.) The Old Covenant, the priest had to come out to bless the people.

The New Covenant, Our Great High Priest “will come” to take His people to Heaven.

The work of Jesus Christ for our salvation is completed, it is final and it is eternal!

AND, Jesus Christ now is ministering in Heaven on our behalf!

*****Heb 9:27  And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Heb 9:28  So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

This verse plainly says that every man, woman and child has an appointment with death.

The Greek word “apokeimai” means death is reserved for each of us!

This same Greek word is translated as “laid up” in other places in the New Testament.

But, the meaning is not just to die but to die “once” as Jesus Christ died “once”!

We must not forget this book was written to believers.

It is a fact that every unbeliever will die twice!

After this death comes the judgment.

There is the judgment seat of Christ for the believer:

2Co 5:9  Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
2Co 5:10  For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

To the unbeliever the Great White throne judgment:

Rev 20:11  And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
Rev 20:12  And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

We have to make our choice before we die the first death, to believe or to not believe.

To the believer when we next see Christ we will be like Him”

1Jn 3:2  Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
1Jn 3:3  And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

To the unbeliever when they next see Christ they will be cast into the burning lake of fire.

Rev 20:13  And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
Rev 20:14  And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Rev 20:15  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

The believer has:

1.) A sanctuary in Heaven.
2.) Our Father is in Heaven.
3.) Our Savior is in Heaven.
4.) Our citizenship is in Heaven.
5.) Our Treasures are in Heaven.
6.) Our HOPE is in Heaven.
7.) Heaven is our HOME!

The most important book for the unbeliever is the Lamb’s Book of Life.

The most important book to the believer is God’s Written Word, The Bible!

God Will Redeem His People

God Redeems His People

Our text:

Exodus 11, 12

We know as Christians that God saves one individual at a time. We have a personal, one on one, relationship with our Father who is in Heaven. This came only through the blood of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Once saved, Born Again, we each have our duty to be available for God’s work and in some cases God will call on certain ones for a more specific duty, such as Preachers, Pastors, Missionaries and other things.

What we see in the Book of Exodus is something different. God redeems an entire nation to serve Him.

Exo 4:21  And the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go.
Exo 4:22  And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:
Exo 4:23  And I say unto thee, [Let my son go, that he may serve me]: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.

Paul wrote:

Rom 9:4  Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;

This adoption was not individual as one lost being saved. No this adoption was an entire nation being singled out as objects of God’s special favors.

Jer 31:9  They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.

The title "firstborn" speaks of honor and privilege and in the Bible times the firstborn was to receive a double portion.

The first request from Moses was for Israel to sacrifice unto the Lord:

Exo 3:18  And they shall hearken to thy voice: and thou shalt come, thou and the elders of Israel, unto the king of Egypt, and ye shall say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath met with us: and now let us go, we beseech thee, three days’ journey into the wilderness, [that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God].

1.) This has not changed! The "blood" is still required to avert God’s judgment.

Heb 9:22  And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

Only as a sinner places the "blood of Jesus" between himself and a Holy God can we stand in His presence.

2.) Only after this, can come service!

Dan 3:17  If it be so, [our God whom we serve] is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
Dan 3:18  But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

3.) Only after this comes the feast!

To the Jew the feasts of the Tabernacle.

To the child of God the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.

Rev 22:17  And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

This contest between Pharaoh and Jehovah was almost ended. This king had passed many opportunities to repent. Warning after warning and plague after plague had been sent yet he refused the Word of God.

God does not back down nor bend His rules to make it easier for repentance. There is only one way to become friends with this God:

Joh 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Joh 14:7  If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

This Pharaoh only had one answer up until this time:

Exo 5:2  And Pharaoh said, [Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice] to let Israel go? [I know not the LORD], neither will I let Israel go.

Pharaoh had seen the wrath of God and he would now see the judgment of God.

*****Our text:

Exo 11:1  And the LORD said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether.
Exo 11:2  Speak now in the ears of the people, and let every man borrow of his neighbour, and every woman of her neighbour, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold.
Exo 11:3  And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants, and in the sight of the people.
Exo 11:4  And Moses said, Thus saith the LORD, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt:
Exo 11:5  And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts.
Exo 11:6  And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.
Exo 11:7  But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the LORD doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.
Exo 11:8  And all these thy servants shall come down unto me, and bow down themselves unto me, saying, Get thee out, and all the people that follow thee: and after that I will go out. And he went out from Pharaoh in a great anger.
Exo 11:9  And the LORD said unto Moses, Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you; that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.
Exo 11:10  And Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh: and the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go out of his land.

"One More Plague"

The Bible says:

Psa 78:43  How he had wrought his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Zoan:
Psa 78:44  And had turned their rivers into blood; and their floods, that they could not drink.
Psa 78:45  He sent divers sorts of flies among them, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them.
Psa 78:46  He gave also their increase unto the caterpiller, and their labour unto the locust.
Psa 78:47  He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycomore trees with frost.
Psa 78:48  He gave up their cattle also to the hail, and their flocks to hot thunderbolts.
Psa 78:49  He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, by sending evil angels among them.
Psa 78:50  He made a way to his anger; he spared not their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence;
Psa 78:51  And smote all the firstborn in Egypt; the chief of their strength in the tabernacles of Ham:

There is no withstanding the angel of death! No amount of wealth and certainly no amount of science can provide deliverance from death:

Heb 9:27  And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

The Palace was not more secure than the servant quarters.

In verse two we see the word "borrow". Many say that God teaches His people to be deceptive and dishonest but nothing could be further from the truth.

The Hebrew word "sha’al was translated in this verse as "borrow". This Hebrew word is used 168 times in the Old Testament, 162 times it is translated "ask, beg, or require".

Even though this is true, why should the Lord tell his people to "ask" anything from a people that for at least 80 years had made slaves of Israel. They had never been paid for the work done in those many years. Lawfully they were entitled to those things as payment.

Spiritually speaking the world owes a great debt for the presence of God’s people. It was Christians that began most all charitable institutions and also most of the schools and hospitals.

We can be sure that on the day of the "rapture" the world will see the true blessing of the Church depart from it for several years.

God will always fulfill His promises:

Exo 3:21  And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, [ye shall not go empty]:

God had also told Abraham these things:

Gen 15:14  And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and [afterward shall they come out with great substance].

*****all the firstborn shall die

It is a tremendous loss for any soul to be judged of God because he truly wants us all to join Him in Heaven.

2Pe 3:9  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; [but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that "any" should perish], but that all should come to repentance.

When a lost soul crosses our path and when given the opportunity we do not witness to them of salvation it may have been their last chance and they may end up in Hell.

This Pharaoh had rejected to even consider that the Israelite people should worship their God. They were an abomination to him and his people and he considered their value to be only as slaves with no rights at all. In how many nations has this not taken place, even in America.

We can dwell on the death of these that could have repented and gone with the Israelite people or we can look upon those that were not harmed because of obedience.

It is a right saying to repeat:

Pro 9:10  [The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom]: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
Pro 9:11  For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.

But to be foolish:

Pro 1:7  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but [fools despise wisdom and instruction].

To be a Christian and to fear the Lord is to believe that He will never do anything that is unrighteous.

Jer 4:2  And thou shalt swear, The LORD liveth, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.

Jer 23:6  In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Paul wrote to the Church in Rome:

Rom 9:22  What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and [to make his power known], (endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction):
Rom 9:23  And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,
Rom 9:24  Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

Why not just punish this Pharaoh? We can be sure that this nation treated this Pharaoh as a god and stood by him.

Exo 14:17  And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and [they shall follow] them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
Exo 14:18  And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.

You see the Lord does put a difference in those that obey the Word of God and those that do not!

"that ye may know how that the LORD doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel"

God shows the Power of His "Grace"!

God has one rule for Himself:

Rom 9:14  [What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid].
Rom 9:15  For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
Rom 9:16  So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, [but of God that sheweth mercy].
Rom 9:17  For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.

This same God sits on the throne today:

1Co 4:7  [For who maketh thee to differ from another?] and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?

That answer is that, It is God that makes the difference and It is God that chooses those to receive His "Grace".

There is no creature in this world that is not under the direct control of this Almighty God!

Morally the children of Israel were no better than these Egyptians:

Lev 17:7  And they shall [no more] offer their sacrifices unto devils, after whom they have gone a whoring. This shall be a statute for ever unto them throughout their generations.

Joshua said:

Jos 24:14  Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: [and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt]; and serve ye the LORD.
Jos 24:15  And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

We can see that the people of Israel also worshipped the false gods of Egypt.

God had said:

Eze 20:6  In the day that I lifted up mine hand unto them, to bring them forth of the land of Egypt into a land that I had espied for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands:
Eze 20:7  [Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt]: I am the LORD your God.

What we see is that God delivered Israel not because of any worthiness but simply because He had promised Abraham.

What do we see in "typology"?

1.) Israel was in bondage to a cruel king.

(the natural man a captive of the Devil)

2Ti 2:25  In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
2Ti 2:26  And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

2.) They cried out because of their bondage not knowing the Redeemer at that time.

(the natural man finally realizing that he is a sinner and aware of his lost condition)

We can know God also hears the cries of the poor and wretched. God remembered HIS COVENANT before they had "faith".

You see God raised up His redeemer before anyone knew they needed one!

Joh 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Joh 3:17  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

You see God made a Covenant with His Son Jesus Christ before the foundation of this world which is the basis of His respect for the Church.

Eph 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
Eph 1:4  [According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world], that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

3.) When Pharaoh heard of God’s intentions we see that he increased the burdens of the children of Israel

We can be sure that whenever Satan senses that of one of his, has realized their lost condition he will immediatly increase their burden for evil and not for good. Satan will distort the word of God!

Gen 3:1  Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, [Yea, hath God said], Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

We see more and more versions of God’s Word (or so called) that does this very thing.

The Blood, The Virgin Birth, The Bodily Resurrection of our Lord being set aside by these perversions of God’s WORD.

It is not until that lost soul turns away from everything [in his own self] and puts his trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ that salvation and then peace of soul is obtained:

Rom 4:5  But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

When we realize we have no righteousness:

Isa 64:6  [But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags]; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

And this will lead to death of the soul:

Rom 6:23  [For the wages of sin is death]; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

We cannot know the gift of God, which is eternal life [but only through Jesus Christ our Lord!]

*****Our Text:

Exo 12:1  And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,
Exo 12:2  This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
Exo 12:3  Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
Exo 12:4  And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.
Exo 12:5  Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
Exo 12:6  And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.
Exo 12:7  And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
Exo 12:8  And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
Exo 12:9  Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.
Exo 12:10  And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.
Exo 12:11  And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD’S passover.
Exo 12:12  For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.
Exo 12:13  And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
Exo 12:14  And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.

Again we will see in these scriptures that God will put a difference between His children and those of Satan. It will be so in the "rapture of the Church" and it will be so in His millennial reign on this earth and it will  be so throughout at the White throne of Judgment!

One might ask, what is that difference? That difference is God’s "Grace"!

Though the Egyptians and the Israelites were the same in "SIN":

Rom 3:10  As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

Rom 3:23  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

God’s Holiness could not then and cannot now ignore "Sin"!

1.) God made no exceptions for the angels:

2Pe 2:4  For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

2.) Even those of the church were at one time the children of wrath:

Eph 2:3  Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

3.) God did not even make an exception for His Son:

2Co 5:21  For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Rom 8:32  He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

4.) God will not ever clear those guilty of "sin":

Exo 34:7  Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, [and that will by no means clear the guilty;] visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

There is no REPRIEVE FOR SIN!

Only a merciful God could come up with a solution!

Rom 5:20  Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
Rom 5:21  That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

Still every demand for justice had to be satisfied. Every claim of Holiness had to be met.

THERE HAD TO BE A SUBSTITUTE!

The sentence of death had to fall on an INNOCENT victim!

God described our own world and our own nation of America for us:

Isa 1:6  From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.
Isa 1:7  Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.

We need only look at the place we live to know that this is still true.

IT WAS ONLY THROUGH THE BLOOD OF THE INNOCENT LAMB THAT MERCY COULD MEET RIGHTEOUSNESS!

Psa 85:7  Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy salvation.
Psa 85:8  I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.
Psa 85:9  Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land.
Psa 85:10  Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

This true story we have of God redeeming the children of Israel from Egypt is in "type" the Lord Jesus Christ as He went to that cross to redeem all that believe on Him.

1Co 5:7  Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. [For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us]:
1Co 5:8  Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

Jesus Christ was our "Passover" that brought to us "Life" eternal.

It was the Lord’s Passover:

Exo 12:11  And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: [it is the LORD’S passover].

The death of our Lord "Glorified God" even if none were saved by the doing of it.

Joh 17:3  And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
Joh 17:4  I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
Joh 17:5  And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

You see God did provide Himself a LAMB that we may be saved through His Work!

Gen 22:8  And Abraham said, My son, [God will provide "himself" a lamb] for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

We as believers are "justified" freely by His "Grace" through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Rom 3:24  Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Rom 3:25  Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

It is Jesus Christ who paid the price of our salvation as our substitute:

Eph 5:2  And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, [and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour].

Heb 9:26  For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: [but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself].

This Jesus will return:

Heb 10:12  But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
Heb 10:13  [From henceforth expecting] till his enemies be made his footstool.

We will see in these scriptures the most complete picture in "type" of the sacrificial work of the Lord Jesus Christ:

I.) "This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you"

God told Israel that only from this point was the time of the existance of Nation of Israel to be counted. Not the passover night(14th and 15th) but the first of this month.

As Christ Jesus was that Lamb what we see now is a world that is dated back to the Birth of Christ. (BC) Not the year of the world but the Year of the Lord. There has never been anyone besides our Lord that has so influenced this world. When Jesus came it changed the entire calender

But greater than that is the relationship of the believer:

Joh 3:3  Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Because of the work of Jesus Christ everyone that believes will begin life anew.

2Co 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Gal 6:15  For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.

II.) "Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb"

We see that this lamb was separated from the flock appointed to death four days before it was actually slain.

What we know is that Jesus Christ was marked for death before He was actually slain on the cross:

Mat 26:2  Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.
Mat 26:3  Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,
Mat 26:4  And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him.

The day Jesus said this is (1) the two day (1+2) and the day of (1+2+1=4)

Add:

1Pe 1:19  But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
1Pe 1:20  Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

We know in numerology that the number four represents the "world":

Jesus was also singled out for death four years before He was crucified:

Num 14:34  After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, [even forty days, each day for a year], shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.

(4 days)

Eze 4:6  And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: [I have appointed thee each day for a year].

Jesus was in the fourth year of His ministry when He was slain and John the Baptist had said:

Joh 1:36  And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

This was the beginning of the ministry of the Lord. (Each day for a year)

Some also point out that as Jesus could not begin His ministry until the age of 30 by Jewish law then 30= 3 times 10. It was on the tenth day the lamb was chosen to be slain under the command of Moses.

III.) "Your lamb shall be without blemish"

Lev 22:21  And whosoever offereth a sacrifice of peace offerings unto the LORD to accomplish his vow, or a freewill offering in beeves or sheep, [it shall be perfect to be accepted; there shall be no blemish therein].
Lev 22:22  Blind, or broken, or maimed, or having a wen, or scurvy, or scabbed, ye shall not offer these unto the LORD, nor make an offering by fire of them upon the altar unto the LORD.

Nothing but a perfect sacrifice could ever satisfy the requirements of God, who in Himself is Perfect!

A sinner can never atone for another sinner and not for himself!

God can only be satisfied with that which will "glorify" Him.

God said:

Mat 17:5  While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, [This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him].

It is God who called Jesus worthy of the death at that cross on Calvary’s Hill.

Jesus Christ was the only "lamb" without blemish!

IV.) "a male of the first year"

This lamb was to be one tear old, the fulness of it’s strength.

To apply this to Jesus we know that He died for us:

1.) Not in old age.
2.) Not in childhood.
3.) Not in boyhood.
4.) Not in His youth.

Jesus died for us in the fulness of His MANHOOD.

Psa 102:24  I said, O my God, take me not away [in the midst of my days]: thy years are throughout all generations.

What do we see in these scriptures?

1.) Verse 3 says "a lamb"
2.) Verse 4 says "the lamb"
3.) Verse 5 says "your lamb"

When we accept the Lord Jesus as our Saviour we realize it is a personal relationship.

Act 4:12  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Gal 2:20  I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, [who loved me, and gave himself for me].

V.) "the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening"

We can see how this verse was fulfilled. When it was decided by the assembly of Israel to release Barabbas, Pilate did this by popular vote of the Jewish nation. They all yelled "crucify Him".

Mar 15:8  And the multitude crying aloud began to desire him to do as he had ever done unto them.

Mar 15:12  And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews?
Mar 15:13  And they cried out again, Crucify him.
Mar 15:14  Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.
Mar 15:15  And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.

In a like manner it is true that the sins of every individual believer was what put Jesus on that cross:

1Pe 2:24  [Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree], that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

VI.) "the fourteenth day"

This is the exact time when Jesus died on that cross! Between the evenings of the fourteenth day the fifteenth day.

The ninth hour would be three o’clock by today’s clocks!

Mat 27:46  And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
Mat 27:47  Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias.
Mat 27:48  And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.
Mat 27:49  The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.
Mat 27:50  Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

VII.) "shall kill it in the evening"

Even in Jerusalem at this very time of the Passover Feast many lambs were to be sacrificed. But the scripture says: "shall kill it".(not them)

The plural "lambs" is not used at all in chapter 12 of Exodus.

THERE WAS ALWAYS ONLY "ONE LAMB" IN THE EYES OF GOD! THE LAMB OF CALVARY!

VIII.) "they shall eat the flesh in that night" "roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it"

This lamb was not just to be killed but also to be eaten. The children of Israel were looking at a long journey that would require much strength.

We know that this "lamb" speaks of the person of Christ Jesus. He is God’s food for His people then and now:

Joh 6:35  And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

Joh 6:48  I am that bread of life.

Joh 6:51  I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

It was in His death that Jesus ordains His food for eternal life!

We cannot feed on the bread of life until we have come out of the world:

2Co 6:15  And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
2Co 6:16  And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
2Co 6:17  Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
2Co 6:18  And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

If we cannot walk in the light of Jesus, we cannot have fellowship with Him:

1Jn 1:6  If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
1Jn 1:7  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Those bitter herbs tell us of our conscience as we cannot have fellowship with His sufferings without remembering it was "our sin" that made His suffering needful:

Php 3:10 [That I may know him], and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

IX.) "Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire"

We know this:

Heb 9:27  And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

For that lost soul, death is not the last thing they will face. They will still face the judgment of a Holy God. These are two separate things and occur on two separate times. Our God is a "sin hating" God.

Therefore: When Jesus Christ took our place on that cross, He not only had to die, He had to stand in judgment of His own Father. This "fire" in this verse speaks of the "wrath" of a Holy God.

2Co 5:21  [For he hath made him to be sin for us], who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

This is the very reason the Church will be "Raptured" out of this world before God’s wrath is shown to this world during the tribulation period. Jesus took our place even in God’s wrath.

Gal 3:13  Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

1Th 5:9  For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
1Th 5:10  Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

When Jesus said "I thirst", He was not thirsting for water, His soul was in the heat of God’s wrath. (roasted with fire) It is in this world that the Word of the Living God should not be watered down because water will hinder the action of God’s "fire".

Because Jesus went through the fire for us, we have His prepared Word, the true Bread of Life. It is not just God ‘s Word that we need for "Salvation" but we need that Glorious Person of Jesus in our hearts, our body, our minds, and Our Soul.

We cannot be the Body of Christ unless we partake of His Body. This is symbolized to the Church, by the Lord’s Supper.

X.) "ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning"

The "lamb" must be eaten the very same night it is slain. The rising sun was not to see the slain lamb.

The work Jesus did on that cross was a completed work. In His own words He said:

Joh 19:30  When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, [It is finished]: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

We have have communion with God because the redemption price was paid. We must remember what the Lord has done for us and never forget but the sacrifice itself is in the past and completed. There can be no more sacrifice for our sin! Jesus paid the price and now lives on High.

Eph 4:8  Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
Eph 4:9  (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
Eph 4:10  He that descended is the same also [that ascended up far above all heavens], that he might fill all things.)

XI.) "And thus shall ye eat it"

That word "thus" tells us how we should be dressed when we partake of Our Lord Jesus:

1.) "your loins girded"

Eph 6:14  Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

There will therefore be no hindrance in the way of our walk with the Lord. The ungirded garment would be like wearing weights and Paul wrote:

Heb 12:1  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, [let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us], and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

2.) "your shoes on your feet"

Eph 6:15  And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

There is a journey that every believer will have after accepting the Lord Jesus as his Saviour.

Moses later wrote:

Deu 29:5  And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and [thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot].

Deu 8:4  Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, [neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.

What we see is that God will provide every need in the walk of His Saints.

3.) "your staff in your hand"

The staff is a sign of our daily walk with our Lord. These redeemed of God would be traveling through the wilderness in search of a new home.

So it is to the saint of God as we pass through this world.

Php 3:20  For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

1Pe 2:11  Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
1Pe 2:12  Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

It is not that we carry our own staff because it is of God:

Psa 23:4  Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; [thy rod and thy staff they comfort me].

Don’t you just love the word of God that teaches us His truth no matter where we read!

4.) "ye shall eat it in haste"

They were to eat in haste because they did not know exactly when the Lord would come! They expected the imminent Coming of the Lord!

This is the same frame of mind we need to be in our daily walk with the Lord. Our job is to make disciples of others. We all have family members whom we believe are lost. Hell is hot and if we do not believe that the Lord can come at any time we are not listening to what God’s Word is saying to us.

Mat 24:45  Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
Mat 24:46  Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

XII.) "when I see the blood"

The slain lamb, the blood on the door post in the shape of the cross, and the eating of the lamb’s flesh provided the protection of God’s chosen people.

God did not just pass by the house of those that obeyed but He stood guard protecting all those under the blood.

The Bible says:

Act 20:28  Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, [to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood].

Heb 9:11  But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
Heb 9:12  Neither by the blood of goats and calves, [but by his own blood] he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

Heb 13:10  We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle.
Heb 13:11  For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp.
Heb 13:12  Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people [with his own blood], suffered without the gate.

Rev 1:5  And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, [and washed us from our sins in his own blood],
Rev 1:6  And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Nothing but the "BLOOD" will God honor, the living blood of Jesus shed for us all on that cross.

XIII.) "And this day shall be unto you for a memorial"

The Bible only records seven times that this feast was kept’ the last time was by Jesus Christ Himself which was immediately before He instituted the Lord’s Supper which is the memorial that the Church is to keep.

Luk 22:15  And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:
Luk 22:16  For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

The last Passover.

Luk 22:17  And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:
Luk 22:18  For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.
Luk 22:19  And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

The first Lord’s Supper.

The first passover was held in Egypt. So Jesus who was called out of Egypt:

Mat 2:15  And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, [Out of Egypt have I called my son].

It is Jesus who is the true Passover!

*****Our text:

Exodus 12:15-23

XIV.) Exo 12:22  And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.

We can see that the blood was to be applied to the lintel(headboard of the door way) and to each sidepost but there is one more thing we should see.

That word "basin" The Greek word (saf which comes from the Greek word saph) actually means the vestibule or the threshold.

In Judges 19:27 the Greek word "saf" was translated "threshhold":

In IIKings 12:9 the Greek word "saf" was translated "door":

This not to point out mistakes in the Word of God because there are no mistakes in the word of God. This simply means in our English translation some words had more than one meaning.

It was translated "bason" in our verse but more probably that lamb was slain at the doorway of each home and that blood was picked up from the threshold  of the door and then applied to the headboard and the side post.

We can see that the blood was not applied to the threshold for it was already there. That lamb was probably slain at the entrance to the doorway.

Now we can get a clear picture in "type" of the cross of Calvary’s mountain. Jesus Christ, His own blood flowed down to the bottom of that cross. It is when the blood that Jesus shed is applied in our own lives we will undergo our "passover" and the death angel will pass on by.

XV.) "ye shall take a bunch of hyssop"

This hyssop was not connected to the lamb. This hyssop is only connected to the application of the "Blood".

The Blood of Jesus on the cross must be uniformly applied to each sinner. In "type" this is repentance. "Hyssop" speaks of the lowliness of the sinner!

Exo 12:23  For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.

*****Our Text:

Exodus 12:24-51

To put away the leaven can be explained to the Christian in the New Testament:

1Co 5:6  Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
1Co 5:7  Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
1Co 5:8  Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

When we are washed in the Blood of Jesus we can have communion with God!

When we read this passage we can understand that the Israelite did not put away the leaven to be saved. He put away the leaven "because he was saved". If he did not put away the leaven from  himself and his household he was cut off from the congregation.

This would mean a suspension of Christian fellowship in the Church.

Paul wrote to the Church:

1Co 5:9  I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:
1Co 5:10  Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.
1Co 5:11  But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
1Co 5:12  For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?
1Co 5:13  But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

There are many in this world that just do not believe God will do as he says. This Pharaoh of Egypt had this same false belief in himself.

God has this same message from the Book of Genesis through to the Book of Revelation.

Luk 13:3  I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, [ye shall all likewise perish].

Mar 16:16  He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; [but he that believeth not shall be damned].

These are the words of Jesus Christ.

It is a sad thing when God has to use the death of a family member to wake us up to the truth of His Word.

It is a true statement that God is "slow to anger" and the barer many for long periods with an open door of "His Mercy" BUT even God has His limits of long sufferance!

Let’s Pray!
